no way would I put my vinyl on that..

Not mentioned where? Saw this (or very similar model as states 3 year guarantee ) in Boyes sale for £49.99 so this is a good price.

because...

3 hours ? what's the point. Better off going to your local charity shop and buying a Radiogram :-)

I read somewhere that some of these cheap record players the stylus can be relatively thick, and the arm quite heavy, so they could damage your records. There's the possibility that's a snobbish elitist opinion of a reviewer who deamnds you spend 1000s an an amp, more on a phono stage etc

I guess it depends if you just want to play some of your 7"s you had as a kid or are serious about it.

I've been tempted in the past to get one to convert all my old records I bought from my college and uni days, but then would have to find the time to convert them, just to get a few b-sides etc you can't get easily on the internet

because I love my records and these Crosley type cheap players are well know for killing the grooves... its okay if you don't care, I have a dansette with good cart in the conservatory, proper set up and weighted correctly and I still wont play my records on it, charity shop/car boot 50p-£1 80s and show tunes and 7"s yes, but not my beloved..

Crosley is one of the worst makes you can go for so if you don't mind cheap and something that will ruin your records, go for it. We all know Records can be expensive so if you want to damage them buy this by all means.
I recommend AT-LP120, costs about £200 but worth it.
I had one for my birthday but literally most the bands and artists i listen to never release anything on vinyl so i sold it. Months later 3 of my fav artists ended up on Pledgemusic where you could get a vinyl version, plus my Dad gives me 300 vinyls to check through and sell, i can keep any, so we got Now 1-9 (got 10- the latest on CD, gotta be worth a bit when it gets to 100) loads of Beatles, Bowie etc

It generally is, but a blast from the past seeing inspiral carpet. Their set at reading festival in 1990 is still amongst one of the best overall shows I've ever seen. I was as high as a kite though.

Guys, just a little advice from experience I have had recently with IWOOT for this very same record player.

I ordered it on the 29th July and was told it would be dispatched on the 1st August with a 2-3 day delivery. I ordered to it to my office as that would enable to ensure that I received it before heading off on holidays on 7th Aug. Wed 3rd August came and it was still being processed online and so I tried to get in touch with them to ask where it was. Their phone lines cut you off.

I messaged them and they came back and said that it was being processed and they would keep me up to date. The next day I chased them again and got no reply so I messaged them on Facebook. They came back and said the item was out of stock with them and their suppliers but they couldn't give me a refund.

I then had a reply from their online help saying that my order would be with me soon - so I had been told two different things!

Anyway, I explained I needed a refund as it was for a gift and I was heading off on holidays but also my office was relocating and so I could not wait for it to be delivered at another time!

Facebook help told me a refund had been processed the online help told me they couldn't do it. Anyway, I ended up going on holiday for 16 days without this being resolved and when I returned there was still no record player and still no refund in my account. I contacted them again and they said that they would now refund me.

The exact same happened to my colleague, we both ordered the same item at the same time.

Shocking. I will never use them again

It is so depressing to see such a distinguished Japanese name being used on cheap tat in this way.

Anyone who knows about '70s hi-fi stuff knows that Akai was anything but cheap and nasty.

I wouldn't use this on records I want to keep either. I'd like to think this is better than a Crosley but I'm willing to bet it isn't.

I will stick to my jukebox and play my 50s 60s 70s 80s 90s I love my soul and rock & roll records thank you
I have thousands of records and I wish to keep them

Oooo where do I get them LP holders from?
Would save me spending on wall paper

I have purchased this akai and it doesn't seem to hold any charge at all. 3 hours I'm lucky to get three minutes before it starts slowing down. Makes no difference if it's plugged in or not? Any suggestions ?

there's nothing you can fix or try to manage in low-end products.
obviously send it straight back.
