I had an Akai video in 1988. Loved it, so hi tech.

The reviews for the new Aiwa products are actually excellent! I'm shocked.
What a shame, Akai used to be a high end audio brand until the 90's. Still remember a double cassette radio with high speed dubbing (yeah baby!) made by them I used to own. Used to be quite an aspirational brand then.
Now another in the Vestel coterie.

Still heated for what it is, not sure what the Android experience is like but for this price sounds like a steal.
Voted hot! Yes, Vestel, unfortunately Akai is long gone, but for this price it seems a good deal. I posted a 32 inch Akai for £115, that is a bargain too for a spare room.

These aren't made by Vestel. They look like the same chassis as the various Cello TV models.

Cello are made in the UK, from the replacement accessories e.g. remotes etc Akai comes under Vestel, they have the same accesories as Linsar sets

I read on the internet that Akai TVs are made by Vestel, so don't really know. What I know is they are not make by Akai, as sadly Akai does not make anything anymore, they just put the name on it.

But sadly this is not the real Akai from 80s..just the brand name probaacquired by some Chinese factory to sell their cheap low end product.

who cares if it’s made by Turkish Vestel or some Chinese firm or a Eastern European company..all the same budget cheap buttom of the barrel products.
what matters is the fact that it’s not that high quality Japanese AKAI product of 90s.

I am really supprised he never bought Beales!
The last Akai TV I bought was actually a rebadged Samsung. That was long before all this malarky with LEDs came out...
