People still use dvds?
God only knows what your buying but certainly not the same Akai brand of 20 years ago. For £5 its a snip tho if anyone can find one.

Of course, when you can get like 10 used dvds for £1 at charity shops, get things that never were released on streaming sometimes even blu ray, if friends/relatives arrive you can just pop a movie in, and get extras like deleted scenes, trailers etc not available on streaming.

But yes the majority of consumers are lazy and brainwashed by what they hear.

The bargain of the day. Thanks OP.
Pictures probably gona be terrible, but £5.00 is a bargain
cant go wrong for £5 for a dvd player. Alright for kids bedroom.
though with bargain blurays sometimes found at Poundland etc I would personally go for a cheap bluray player. I am sure someone like Asda had done a cheapy one during xmas for about £25.
still voted hot from me.
Stonking bargain £40 on Amazon
We had Akai video for 20 years very good make this is a bargain
Do these do cds, mp3cds, usb with mp3s too?

It's not the Akai of yesteryear, it's just a name slapped on cheap rubbish now. Akai Professional is the remnants of "good" Akai, but they only make pro audio gear now, not DVD players.
Great to use as cheap CD player into a half-decent DAC or receiver.
My thoughts exactly, just going to see if I can find one.

Like many other trusted old brand names you don't know what you are buying these days, this has still got to be a bargain though..

Same here although the Akai brand was bought out years ago - no idea who builds their goods nowadays. I hope it's not gone a similar way to Polaroid!

People watch Sky TV which isn't great HD quality, about the same as DVD quality when sat on a sofa away from the TV.

Why do people alway's assume terrible/rubbish, and stuff?, or ...

Show me any no-Brand DVD Player that will cost less than £20 even? - yet alone a branded one for only £5?.

Don't forget, it's reduced (from a much higher price), and not that it was being sold at £5 from the off instead? (because it was rather manufactured for £1-£2 or something ... )

There is a notable difference. :-)

DVD Player, what is that?

Never mind just seen some documentary on Netflix about it, turns out its some ancient technology just like a phonograph and minidisk, i think the Egyptians used it.

dealpickle and amour3k. You guys are absolutely right and considering I was there (still have my 89 Smash Hits sticker album lying around somewhere) I should have worked it out. In my defence I wasn't trying to be at all factual, rather kinda stupid to which I think I definitely succeded

Fair enough, your're fortunate at least, I went to the B&M on Chadwell Heath Retail Park (in Goodmayes) last night ...

But guess what?, nadda. :-(

So no point anyone trying that Store (if anyone's interested).

At the time, it was still worth a shot at I guess (as you never know, etc, lol).
They didnt have any when my mrs saw a fb post.
It was a few days later so they may restock.
Incidentally.... we also have a b&m express (formally heron foods) near us.
B&m stock is odd generally, we go to various ones getting the pop figures when they were on offer. Sone get different ones... some get more of the same.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh ha, I hear you (was contemplating trying another B&M Store also anyway, lol), thanx. :-)

I'll see what Tomorrow hold's then?, hehehehe.
