Gone already?

Note that your motherboard will need an eSATA port for this to be true eSATA. The electrical characteristics of SATA and eSATA differ as eSATA can use longer cabling. You might get away with turning an internal SATA port into an eSATA port, but then again, you might not...

eSATA, possibly THE worst PC connection system ever made. Connectores that make/break if you even breathe bear them and flaky flaky hit and a miss performance. Roll on USB3!!!!!

Such a pity they couldnt have made it more robust.

When in doubt, be fluffy.

You never know they may bring out an eSATA revision like they did with regular SATA. In my experience SATA 1.0 cables were quite prone to disconnecting but now they have that clip design its better. Fascinating topic.

From what I've read on USB3 so far, its a big let down, nowhere near the 4.8Gbps headline rate (more like a quarter of that!). You are right though, eSATA cables are dodgy as anything!
