+SMELTING...

Paid £139 for a set of these 6 years ago... still going strong and worth every £ they come down in price!
So tempted!!!!
Great headphones and come in a lovely travel case.
Was very tempted but reviews on Amazon suggest reliability issues, in particular very poor cable quality.

Have to say Cobblers to those Uncle :-)

Got a pair on one tractor [the 6 year old ones] and a pair in the gym, of which both have been used to hell, the ones in the gym are unplugged at least 3 times a day and re-plugged into other outputs, never had an issue with any cables and do not use stuff lightly...

Go for it!
I have a set of these and don't like the sound much, very flat sounding but this is an absolute cracking price for those after a pair.
Absolutely amazing piece of kit this for the price. There the only headphones I've used under £50 where you proper notice the parts of songs you just don't normally hear. Obviously there haven't got jack on £200 Sennheisers, but you get what you pay for, and I'd happily pay £50 for these once again. I paid £45 about 6 months ago and I still use these daily and I'm as impressed as ever every time.
voted hot,but can't buy online and none within 120 miles of me.

I've heard nothing but praise for this particular model but how much better is this compared to the 202s from Sennheiser?

would a replacement cable work to add remote functionality?

Got some of these a good while back - v good indeed and v comfortable too. Removable lead too so when that bit breaks or starts crackling you can replace.

The AKG K451 is what you're after I think. Same headphones but with remote functionality.

These are absolutely fantastic for this price. I paid £40 from Superfi a few years ago and they're by the far the best headphones I've had.

I've had a listen to Beats that are twice the price and they're not a patch on these. More bass...probably. But nowhere near the level of detail.

Don't hesitate if you're after a pair, they won't last long at this price.

My mates got a pair of the HD 202's and they are great headphones, but I think the AKG's are better, although I might be biased. The Sennheisers are cheaper though, when these arn't on offer.
Does this have any sort of Sound technology inside them, good bass/treble volumes?
I found these very uncomfortable (but I have a big head!). They sound pretty good though, especially for this price.
Amazing price for great headphones. Heat added.
Got these for xmas @ £40 and I can confirm they are super duper! For £30 this is a no brainer. They come with two cable; one short, one long and you can buy replacements if, like me, you have a tendancy to snap, break or otherwise break headphone wires. I'm not sure they beat the Beats, but for the money (and my budget) they are great!
Wearing my 451s as I type this. The 450s were replaced by the 451s and then the 452s. Other than the remote control cable ability there was little difference between 450s and 451s. I think there was little difference between the 451s and 452s

Very comfortable on ear headphones, good quality sound and nice passive noise reduction - I sometimes leave them on with no sound playing. Good price for an older model, hot.

I have these and used them for about a year now.. To be honest I have no idea why they are so popular? I obviously don't have a well trained ear!

Also the sponge is coming off one of the ears

I checked out bose ones in the shop that are £120 and they sounded so much better.. I appreciate these are £30 so not a fair comparison but like "008" Paid £139 for a set of these 6 years ago I cant see why they are so well rated..

You paid £130 for them 6 yrs ago... and they still going strong (bar sponge issue!). That in itself is good reason to recommend them for £30!
Shame they're instore only, would have definitely bagged a set of these...

I take it you're quite sure yours aren't fakes? I'm confident mine are the real thing but would have to agree with your comment about the sound. With a very good quality vinyl rip of something like AC/DC's Back in Black mine sound good but for the most part I fail to see what people see in them.

Good price!

Yeah i think I got the from superfi or richer sounds in a similar deal..

Don't get me wrong there decent but I wouldn't say they stood out particularly to other similar priced and sized headphones I have had.

We'll I'm glad it's not just me then. Mine came from Superfi so I was confident they were genuine but all the rave reviews made me wonder slightly!
Hot hot hot .. one of the best portable headphone in the market
Worth every penny.
Had a set for a couple of years now and no reliability issues and cables are fine (easily replaceable if you do break them).

As with all headphones, what you put in defines what you get out.
I normally play FLAC tracks and they sound great. Play a 128 bitrate mp3 and unsuprisingly, they reveal the deficiencies that come with the smaller file size.
great headphones, possibly too bassy for music production but fine for listening to music. only downside for me is the short cable length.
I have the 451s, They're good. Much better than my sennheiser px200s (version 1) if you're looking for portable phones. This is not a bad price either. They're usually around the 40 mark or so. For the money they are pretty damn good. I use them for library trips and traveling because they pack away well in the case, and give you resonable to good sound (compared to other earphones/ cans - obviously miles better than any cheap ibuds or anything like that).

They are quite sensitive to positioning on the ear though. I was initially disappointed but you have to experiment with how they sit on your head becuase it changes the sound quite considerably. They can get uncomfortable with long extended listenings too, because they do push in on either side to create a seal. Only a problem after ssay 2-3 hours though.

However, if you're not too bothered about portability then I think the best overall sound for the money are these:

amazon.co.uk/Cre…ive

I bought them when they were £40 and probably amongst the best thing you can buy for anything under £100. I've had tons of sennheisers and these are the comfy and clear- the sound is just enjoyable. Perhaps not 100% the clearest or the bassiest but for overall sound: amazing. Best purchase I have made thanks to this site.
I love these, though they seem to "slip" off my ears/hair more than my beloved Koss PortaPros*.

Can't fault the K450's sound, or the fact the headphone cable plugs in the side, underneath the left earpiece. It prevents the cable connection getting loose over time (usual fate of my headphones, eventually)!

If the cable catches on anything it detaches from the headphones.

*Off on a slight tangent, what's the best price for the "On Fire" edition of PortaPro? £31.36 seems a bit pricey for a swanky red makeover amazon.co.uk/Kos…87E considering I paid around £14.99 for the originals a few years back.

How would these compare to the Monoprice 8323's in terms of general SQ?
the K452 have inline remote for Android, K451 for iOS.
Can anyone comment on how good/deep the bass is on these? I need a light pair for the office but I do like good quality bass so long as it doesn't dull the sound. I currently have a set of Ultrasone DJ1 Pro which have awesomely detailed wide sound stage with good deep bass but a bit big for the office. I bought my sis some Sony MDRZX600 which for the £ were pretty damn good overall sounding with detailed highs/mids/bass. My guess is these will be comparable to the Sony. Any thoughts?
Paid £40 for these a year or so ago, worth every penny. Also 2 year warranty at richer sounds.

Super Hot! - they sound great, better and more enclosed than my Sennheiser PX100's that they replaced - solid build and sound BUT they do tend to be a little top heavy weight wise in the head band in that if I tilt my head back or forward (such as nodding in agreement to the wife or mild head banging) they quite easily fall forward or backwards and off. So I tend to have to keep still. I suppose it doesn't help not having lots of luxurious hair but anyhoo I digress.

Oh and my ears get a little warmed up when using them on long haul flights but again, they're great sounding and actually make long hault flight films bearable and much improvement over the freebies or even my PX100's
