At last. Proper headphones being listed. Not this 'beats' crap made by an extension lead company. So if you care about the sound (and not looking a ****) go for these AKG's or some Sennheisers! Hot. !

heat from me

Good headphones but misleading title. These are not noise cancelling in any sense nor do AKG claim this. They offer noise reduction by virtue of their construction and fit.

Updated To Reduction!

Totally agree I have 3 pairs of akg's and are amazing,so tempted with these

Admittedly a great pair of headphones, but only £6 cheaper than amazon so is this really much of a deal?

Like the look of these and I'm a sucker for some NEW phones right now!

:-)

Have some heat!

Love AKG's trouble is the yoof of today are brainwashed by music & it's derivatives,Beats lol, wouldn't have em fer nowt, heat added

can't go wrong with AKGs, but if your after noise cancelling look at 7dayshop.

have tried these and they are very excellent at noise isolation literally one of the best if not best cans which can isolate noise and prevent noise leakage. The accuracy of the sound reproduction is excellent even over my technica audio cans closed A900 cans (which were regarded as also some of the best closed headphones)

If your sitting next to that person sure you could hear a bit of sound but 1 meter away nothing, you can fine tune it also if you reduced volume lets say for tv and film watching to low volume no one could hear it next to you.

Perfect also for gaming and they are comfy. I would say the only 2 negatives is it takes a bit of time to get use to the suction and sitting around the ear if its not done well can leak noise but even then not badly. The worst thing is since they tend to sit directly over the ear and seal in by design they can make your ears get very hot and warm !

Not so good in this summer heat, the key is to take off the cans more regular and allow your ears some fresh cool air to breathe in.

I am already considering getting a pair of open headphones to prevent this issue but will have to see since the trade off is noise leakage which I can't manage at night so perhaps evenings will be the AKGs and other times the open cans!

Great info emptypocketz, always good to get an owners feedback, cheers.

Regardless of them not being Beats (a good thing), you still look like a ponce walking around with any large cans on your head. Unless you're from a low income area in London, braap.

I had the AKG 450s for going out the house with, and they were superb for £40. They're only slightly worse than the Bose QC3 I use now (dont judge, they were free). The noise cancellation is second to none though with the Bose.

I have bought some AGK 450s from these people as they are located on my way home from work- well stocked showroom if ever you get the chance to visit (strangely, I found that these are the people that I had bought a car loom from when I changed the car stereo unit),

From the link given by OP, reading the reevoo reviews, they don't fair well. However I know not to trust random reviews without further research. Is there anyone that would be able to give feedback on how these would compare to Sennheiser HD 25-1 II's that I own.

Also is the inline mic feature only good for IOS rather than Android?

Cheaper on amazon bought these yesterday

What's difference between these and the k550's. K550s get a lot better reviews and only £10 more on amazon.

I've never seen a listing for beats on this site...

I've got the K550's and they're great, I'd personally go for them even though they're a little more as they're suggested to be better by a few reviewers and those on headphone forums etc.

What is it with AKG and flimsy cables

Ooh sexy! Heat added

£6.00 is a lot for many people.

The correct term is noise isolating.

Good headphones.. If you care about audio then you will get a good brand not "beats"

Inta audio are doing the white Audio-Technica MX-50 for £79.99 with free del. I also got an additional 10% off using their voucher code. Amazing headphones !

These headphones are great but the wire is so short, because I do t have speakers I plus these into the back of my PC and every time I lean back I get them yanked off my head.. Very short wire.

^^what he said. Sennheisers, AKG and Sonys blow Beats clean out of the water (provided you don't want extremely distorted bass which drowns out all the other instruments!) voted hot!

Monster did actually make some decent headphones, my turbines were awesome.

Beats are trash and entirely form over function, but the cable company still actually put some decent stuff out

A couple of comments after reading the thread........

As a number of folks have said, these are 'noise isolating'. Most closed back headphones are, to some extent.

If it's 'noise cancelling' you are after, I have to second what an earlier poster said, and suggest you go to 7dayshop. I have their noise-cancelling phones for travelling, and they are excellent. Wouldn't have believed how effective active noise cancelling is, until you put them on, with no input source, and then switch on noise cancelling. The reduction in background cabin noise is amazing.

Back to AKG. I have two pairs. My general desk pair, for editing voice recordings, are a pair of K141 Mkii. They are classed as 'semi-open back', and allow me to hear other things going on around me in the background (important in an office)

For music listening, I have a pair of AKG 550's. They are totally immersive in their presentation, and I cannot commend them highly enough.

Based on the reviews going around, it's clear that many feel the K551 is a lesser product in a number of regards, and folks are still happy to pay a little more for the K550. I can certainly recommend them.

Agree with you there, but I've not once seen Beats reach the hot page of this site.

I don't see these being sold for £229 anywhere...

Umm, that's a valid response how? They're clearly boasting of a totally fictitious, overinflated saving! There are plenty of other sites offering the same headphones at £89.99-£95, all day long...

If I added a smiley face, would that make clear that my response was intended as humour?

£229 reflects the UK SRP, at least at launch (see price on this review - http://www.whathifi.com/akg/k551/review)

No one ever expects to pay SRP on products like headphones.

Beats are rarely ever posted on this site...? AKG's, Sennheisers etc. are some of the main headphones brands posted on here, so I'm not sure what you're complaining about, or why exactly this is the top comment. oO

It might be one of the top comments because we all like to look down on the uneducated.
People who buy a product that is style over substance without knowing it are fools.
My experience is of owning some Sennheiser HD25-SP's for which every component can be replaced,
versus a chap at my work who damaged his £220 Beats and was told by their UK distributor
that "we don't do parts". The Sennheisers also sounded amazing to my ears.
I appreciate that sound is subjective, but many don't seem to understand that the purpose of sound reproduction
is to do so as transparently as possible, not to add bass.

You are not that new here, Beats do get a fair few posts I guess you peruse the Hot tab, try discussed it will open your eyes.
Doing a quick search for Dr Dre showed about 10+ in the last 6 weeks. The poor mislead parents find even more nearer the Holiday Robbing season of Christams.
