I thought Madam Palm had five lovely daughters

I like the sound of this. Not as a nookie alert, but it might come in handy when my youngest moves from a cot to a bed, so we get a warning if he tries to come out of his room.

Anyone fancy picking me one up and posting it. I can Paypal.

Surely there'll be questions as to what you were doing and why you have an 85dB alarm you attatch to ur door when ur gf/bf is over?! i'd stick to the putting a chair or something to be knocked over when ur door starts to open...then you retain a little bit of deniability+you can say "you see thats why you should knock...you could have broken my chair!"

Since when did teenagers "own" their bedroom? The person with their name on the deeds of the house can go in whichever room they like, and without permission...

Christ, I'd better lighten up before my son turns 13

I was experimenting with 14.4k dialup at 13, ahh the days of internet ignorance,

All depends on the parents, any child without proper parental authority instilled into them will recognise a parents right to enter their room whenever they want, at the same time any decent parents will understand a child growing into an adult will want and need privacy.

85dBa alarm??? As a father with 17 and 14 year old daughters that isn't loud enough to be heard over their "music".  :-D

My dad used to say this, this is a ridiculous attitude. Sure you can come in if you want to but you should respect their privacy and knock.
A child should not be able to "ban" you from your bedroom but knocking before entering your childs room particularly once they enter their teens is sensible and respects their existance as a person.
If you had a guest over who was staying in the spare room and the door was closed would you just walk straight in without knocking? If you would you are a terrible host.

Well that's another post, but my 6 year old has a habit of getting up in the night to raid the fridge

Limmy...........what a legend

Never seen this on TV......? Scotland only

Is this a toy or a real product??
I thought these were for the front door so when if your opening the door to an unknown person e.g. salesman an alarm will go off if they try and barge in??

As a teenager in the 90s we weren't into any of this group nonsense. We just used to close our bedroom doors to entertain Pamela Handerson.

I don't see how you could use this, not unless his door opens outwards, you couldn't get out of the room otherwise.

I'd close the door, then slide the wedge in from outside. That's the theory anyway.

why would anyone make this, not heard of a lock?

Not just to keep people out.

"The alarm is battery powered for convenience but may also be used as a normal door wedge simply by switching the alarm to the Off position .
As well as the security benefits, concerned parents can also be alerted if their teenage children sneak in late!"

A lock would be the better choice i agree, otherwise your room would start sounding like a 7-Eleven

I was thinking this might do for a certain dog of mine who likes to get into the kitchen when I'm not around downstairs.

Of course, but this isn't *actually* intended for a baby or teenager's room, it's simply an alarming doorstep , maybe useful during a breakin for a forced (locked) door?...

I'm keen to hear how it can be slipped behind a shut nursery door or used more effectively than a doorlock in a teen's room...

Don't think you should use it in a nursery sounds like too much of a hazzard, I think the best uses for this would be used as a front/back door alarm at night either to deter break ins or to see what time your loved ones are sneaking in at or if you like to leave you doors half open during the summer to let air in or like most peoples first ideas as a joke item it is only £2.25 after all:-D
