I'd rather read a reply that was blank than read yours. :w00t:

Amazon reviews aren't bad (although 3 is scarcely a significant sample size): amazon.co.uk/Alb…EQQ
Beware apparent lack of included SCART cable, though they are cheap enough at Tesco if memory serves (£1.97??).

For under £10 you can't go too far wrong, I am going to need a few of these so this might the one to start with. A few reviews at the link below including one person who seems impressed by it apart from the 30C temp it reaches. Seems like a hot deal to me
digitalspy.co.uk/ter…tml

I figure it might be worth giving an estimated reason for them ditching these:
Last week it was announced that HD channels are coming to Freeview with effect from next year (but not all regions until 2012) but you'll need to buy a new freeview compatible tuner to do it (unless yours already has hd output), I'm guessing that these are SD only hence them being flogged off cheap.

Did you write sony on it like he said?

It was a joke for goodness sake I don't like Alba.

Really? 'cos all the replies were deadly serious, I could tell!

even this guy cant bring himslef to touch it without gloves :-D

Why moan about the make, it's only £9.99 for goodness sake. And even at £9.99 it would still be covered by a guarantee. Thanks for the post and I would say to people who criticise, 'if you can't say anything positive, best not to say anything at all'.

Worth a punt for a tenner, but I had one of these stop working after 4 months. Covered by warranty of course, but frustrating nonetheless.

Omg the royal family sent there butler for one too, thats it i want one:-D

So now i need an outside ariel, how much are they, any ideas:thumbsup:

ideal for the bedroom! (have 6 brothers and sisters so mum and dad are getting this tip off from me lol!!)

That said we are probably still many Months away from a HD box with no indication of likely cost. What price will these plummet to once they are released?

I have 5 of these and they are very good. I have them connected to ancient rooftop aerials and only have an issue with one of them where it doesn't get CH5 Voted Hot

Your absolutely right.

It'll probably be getting on for four years befor HD is transmitted on freeview.
I'll try to get a couple of these for the video and TV and save my pennies for a HD Freesat tuner board for the PC.

BRAND CONSCIOUS users...simply attach a 'better' brand's logo via superglue over the surface printed one...if if make you feel better or the unit work any better...lol

I have one of these, bought before xmas at full price.

Died one, but left it a few days and it was working again!

Good little box.

Had one of these had to take back - VVVV poor pick up of signals. When compared to other boxes in my area they just were v poor.. - be warned...

I found just the opposite I have 2 of these boxes and they were far better than the Wharfedale and Bush they replaced. They are as god as the Sony HDD recorder Ive got

Does it really pick up all digital channels?

Hi all !

Had my first experience of one of these boxes at the weekend at a relatives weekend pad ! awful unit....stuttered a lot on the picture - 7 day guide was a joke, most channels wouldn't update etc etc. Sorry, not good - but on saying that - it is super cheap, so maybe ok for some of you for a bedroom etc ? definately one to avoid as the main unit in the house though !! thought i'd share that with you

is that on the cardboard box or the actual unit?

I got this for £14.99 couple of months back for the children's bedroom and will definitely recommend if you're after a cheap box. I get all channels (more than my big sony TV) , but the remote sucks, very slow to respond but it didn't matter as I had an all in one remote which works much better.

Try plugging a decent aerial in to it.;-)

Knowing Sony, an empty box would cost more than this.:whistling:

I've got one of these in my kitchen. It's actually a decent little budget box, as good as my more expensive wharfedale on in my bedroom, but smaller!

BUT

I updated the firmware to 3.something and now the EPG is full of advertising. DON'T update it
