Not the world's greatest brand or spec but maybe worth getting as a kid's or spare phone?

Price is £69.99, you need to have any old EE or O2 SIM to qualify for the upgrade otherwise you will need to add on a tenner for a top-up. I used a couple of old O2 SIMS with no credit that I happened to have lying around & they worked. Make sure you click on the "Upgrade" tab to buy it without having to pay for a top-up.

Quidco/TCB currently paying £5 for PAYG phones.

£50 trade-in T&Cs here, the trade-in phone needs to be unlocked and with no screen damage. I got a carpy Alcatel Pixi4 for £10 here (often OOS but keep checking!) and unlocked it with an ebay code for 99p.

All Carphonewarehouse phones come unlocked.

Link doesn't say anything about the £50 trade in?
Bargain. I will give it a go. Have and old smartphone lying around. Thanks OP.

No, that's for Argos
PAYG upgrade is a hit and miss with CPW. I have tried numerous old and new sims and it never worked for me...
Could you do this in store?

Yes but no Quidco
Decent deal, if it all goes through.
Is this locked or could it be used with Vodafone?

Yep, but this is £10 cheaper!
Is this better than the A2 XL?
Guys i got an LG L20, can i trade that in/is it literally any smart phone for the trade in?
What the differences between the A3 and the A3 plus 3G?
Original Poster
A3 Plus has more RAM but no 4G
Not SIM free, must upgrade
A3 Plus also has Nougat it seems, while this has Marshmallow.

Or can it be upgraded to Nougat (OTA)?
has anyone actually done this now its been running a while? who pays postage with £50 at stake i imagine you would want cover...
OK I bought this.

Comes with Android 6, no upgrade to Nougat.

Also their custom ROM is HORRIBLE. it's ugly and replaces a bunch of Google apps with their own crap, and installs And there is no way to root the device at all, so you're stuck with it.

Also while looking around, it's like this phone doesn't even exist. Alcatel don't list it on their site, almost as if they're ashamed of it.

Honestly I'm doubtful about successfully receving £50 cashback from them.

Stick Nova Launcher on it and you can hide most of the custom carp! If all else fails just sell it at Cex and pocket the £50.

oh the cheeek, replacing unnecessary google craps with their own
the A3 is listed on the promotions page but i couldn't find an alcatel page, punch in alcatel.com to your browser see what happens
do let us know how you get on, am in the market for a very cheap 4g for use as a mifi device.
Anyone here successfully traded their phone in?

I sent a Motorola Razri phone in which was in immaculate condition and the claim was rejected due to "a major crack on the case" which wasn't their when I posted it! I contacted Alcatel who said they'd contact the recycling centre so I suspect they're using one of the major phone recycling companies who are not playing 100% fair.

Thanks - followed your advice even down to getting a Pixi4 from O2 and unlocking it. Claim approved today and money to be paid into account within 30 days. Cheers.

What was the outcome please of you contacting Alcatel? A few people are reporting getting their trade in revalued to £37.50, which seems a bit of a coincidence given different phones. Are people getting the full £50?

I got the full £50 for all 3 alcatel pixi3 phones I sent in but they were brand new
I've just had my claim rejected. I sent a working Huawei U8180 which I felt met the terms of the offer. The phone had a small scratch on the screen and some dust under the screen. The claim was rejected with the message "Bad screen". Not sure what I need to do now, and whether or not I can send another phone in?

I think they will accept another one, give them a call and then get a cheapo PAYG upgrade phone from Carphonewarehouse and send that.

Any success in calling them?
I contacted them asking them to reassess my phone, or to give me the chance to send another phone, and they said

"I can confirm that within the Terms & Conditions point 11 clearly states,
''have no water or screen damage and a working battery must be included. Your device must be unlocked''

Unfortunately, As you have submitted a claim and it has been rejected, you will not be able to submit another claim for this promotion.

If you have any further inquiries, please do not hesitate to get back in contact."

This kind of feels like a bit of a scam, I hear the small claims court calling

That sounds really harsh. Have you thought about noising them or Carphonewarehouse up on social media?
I've emailed asking for a re-evaluation, failing that, the opportunity to resend another phone, failing that, the small claims court. The assessment of "reasonable wear and tear" seems very arbitrary, and open to challenge?
