could it be unlocked to use on another network?

Could be a good deal depending on ease of unlocking.....also concerned about 4Gb ROM as with Android 4.2 you cannot move apps to or run them from the external storage

Not as of yet, need to wait till release. Hopefully someone can come up with a cheap way to unlock it.

Looks good to me provided it can be unlocked but does it come in other colours ? I dont fancy having a pink phone :{.

EDIT: Forgot i had f.lux on; turned it off and its red ofcourse. Silly me ...

Just wonder being Nexus 4 last price was around £160-170. Does it really worth at this price now?

I would rather get the Nokia 625 Lumia which they also going to launch on EE at a special price of £149.99

Reminds me of the galaxy s2.

I'm just not convinced by the whole 4g thing. I get more than enough speed from HSDPA.

All depends which platform you prefer, in terms of app you are better of with android.

I get 6mb with Three on average, it's fast enough for my needs but some people prefer faster speeds.

One Touch is all you need to realise you never want to touch it again. A bit like when the postman is carrying a lot of parcels and asks you to take his keys out of his shorts.

Genuinely shaping up to be a pretty interesting device - As long as it's not pain to unlock. . .

110g - Can that be right?

cold simply for the fact it only has 4gb memory and you cant tranfer apps to the memory crad anymore with android 4.2 so basicly you will run out of storage if you download 2 big games

Doesn't that depend on the OEM software implementation? I'm pretty sure that I can move most of my apps to SD on my Galaxy S4?

At least hoping for that meager 4GB, the partition table allocates >1.5GB free for system partition. I'd say 1GB is too low, 1.5GB is borderline sufficient, 2GB is ok, >2.5GB is ample. I can't really understand some manufacturers that make tablets with 8GB or even 16GB NAND, and allocate just 1GB for system. Really outrageous. I prefer no internal SD partition (just external SD if you wish), and full allocation of the nand to system (apart from a couple gigs for other needed partitions, cache etc)

Looks good for the money. I'm guessing my normal Orange 3G sim would work fine in this without unlocking!

A review of the Alcatel One Touch Idol.

Looks the same as this apart from not having 4G!

Shame its not Dual-SIm. Otherwise very good specs and price. Waiting for easy unlocking news, before committing.

This phone phone has Adreno 305 GPU just like the HTC ONE mini.

Most of the big app data will still go on the sdcard. (obb's / data).

You cannot move the apk's but those are not the big parts. Most of the big stuff will be in /sdcard/Android/obb (Linked from the proper place). Or /sdcard/Android/data

Posted this earlier, but got moved from Deal to Discussion on HUKD's, if anyone wants to chip in!

hotukdeals.com/mis…328

Apps can only be moved to the sd card if the developer of that app allows it. You can move some app data to the sd card but not the full app. Works on the wife's phone (Huawei Ascend Y300 Android 4.1.1) not sure about 4.2 though. Insert an sd card, settings, storage, default storage location change to sd card (you'll get the standard warning message of some apps may not work fully). Then go to settings, manage apps & click on an app & you should see the option to move to sd card.

Yes u can, as of android ver 2.3!!

Bought Alcatel mobile, pay as you go this year. It would not charge anymore, a few weeks latter.
Alcatel will not repair it, rather then pass it on to SBE ltd. repair firm whit a bad rep.Their number is 0871, so getting charged there.
Apparently Alcatel no longer makes or repair mobiles so bit puzzled to find new ones.
Still got new mobile in the box waiting to be discarded.

FINALLY!!!! ANDROID PHONE - WITH 1GB RAM, CHEAP AND GOOD DECENT DISPLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although the networks advertise speed increases to lure people to 4G, it's not the only advantage.
The real benefit of 4G is much lower latency and a more reliable connection.
Plus, like 3G speeds are going to increase over time. Cat8 LTE has theoretical limit of 3Gbps

Alcatel Lucent make things used behind the scenes, networking stuff etc.
Home/Business Landline phones are by AtLinks and the Alcatel name is licensed.

The Mobile phones are actually made by massive chinese company called TCL who use the Alcatel name here and RCA in Russia/USA. Oh and they also make IKEA's UPPLEVA electronics.

But unfortunately TCL do use SBE as a repair partner but here's the number TCL provide for them
01233 619 320

I would rather have an iphone 5c for £500 with tiny display , small battery and mad zooming effect when you open apps

You are half right , but mostly wrong ...

Canadian lte band only so no use to anyone here

Looks good, thanks.

Will probably buy it provided I can get it unlocked.

Looks like a nice phone, hope it is easy to unlock or available on other networks though. These network lock-ins / exclusivity deals on lower end cheap UK sold android handsets are a real pain.
