Alcatel OT-E205 On Orange PAYG - Just £9.99 Delivered, Or £4.99 With Quidco!

A very nice deal IMO, perhaps a starter phone for children, or for your older relatives. The Alcatel OT-E205 is a basic phone, with function for texts and calls. However, it is just £9.99 delivered at Orange, with no top up. And whats more, you can claim £5 through quidco, making this phone just £4.99!

"Weighing in at just 75gm, this petite little number is a real pleasure to use featuring a well laid out keyboard for easy text messaging. With two games onboard and a choice of polyphonic ringtonesthe Alcatel OT-E205 has a great sense of fun."

Huh? Please Explain

Ill have one its fine for a spare although getting the £5 of quidco will be a major hassle!

Quidco tracking on orange sux. Ordered two pones from them in the past via quidco and both failed to track.

It seems this deal has taken a wrong turn, are we not here to help each other?

Please keep this thread on topic. Thanks

Thanks ray

Thanks Ray, this was turning into yet another tiresome Ebay pros and cons discussion and had nothing to do with the deal. IMO this is a no-brainer buy as a spare phone at this price. I couldn't give a flying fig whether it looks trendy or not or if it has a camera or MP3 player built in (I already have a digital camera and MP3 player for that). I just want a cheap phone that can make and receive calls and this phone will do nicely. In my experience mobile phones don't tend to last years anyway so spending a lot of money on one is no guarantee of phone longevity.

I bought a different Alcatel phone last month from the orange shop for the same price but my son had that one off me when his phone stopped working so this one will do fine. The quidco cashback from Orange for that one took 6 weeks to appear in my account but went straight to validated so expect a wait if you order via quidco.

is this one locked on orange or not?

Generally, Orange lock and brand all of their phones.

But at £10 possibly less Quidco, it's a bargain.

I bought 2 phones from orange, they have both tracked & been validated but extremely slowly. The quidco payment is only tracked once you have registered the phone with orange.

This is the kind of cheap deal for a phone that you can throw into your glove box of the car. You never know when it might come in handy.

I bought one of these through quidco last time they were on offer but it never showed as tracked . I didnt bother registering it,just wanted a spare phone for the car for emergencies.Does anyone know if it"s only tracked when you register it if buying from Orange ?

Does anyone know how to unlock this phone ?

This is what it says about Orange on Quidco:

Please note that your commission will only be received after you activate … Please note that your commission will only be received after you activate your phone. It can take up to two months to appear in your transactions listing.

that means you have to register it i think

Thanks emasu, great price!

i bought the alcatel ot-e801 for the same price and that has got a 512MB mp3 player on it which i thought was a good deal.

Bought the Alcatel ot-e801 from the Orange shop on 1st April, registered it with Orange on the 28th April and it appeared in my Quidco account as validated 2 weeks later.

Picked up one of these from the Orange Shop yesterday for £9.99. Never even laid my hands on it and I traded it in for £100 cashback on an upgrade ;-) Nice £80 profit (I had to put £10 credit on it) in the space of 5 minutes.

The phone did look nice though...

I also bought one of these for a Tenner after seeing the offer on here.
When I registered the phone I suddenly got £10 calling credit, so free phone in effect.

Can you explain further? sounds like a deal too good to miss!

How on earth do you check out without buying a top up?

It doesn't ask you buy a top-up for this phone when you check out. When you click on the buy icon, select which pay-as-you-go plan you want to be on, click on checkout, agree to the T&Cs, decide whether you want to make International calls and be on the Orange directory or not and then pay for it.

I bought an Alcatel OT-E230 from Orange website last month for £9.99 (hadn't seen offer on here though at the time). I went through Quidco and even though I've registered the phone it hasn't tracked yet.

The offer said it was £9.99 for the phone if you bought £10 top-up card too, so in effect you pay £19.99 for it.
However, they also give you £1 free credit when you register it.
Soon after I registered mine I made a few calls and it said I had £8.52 (or something similar) of credit remaining and that the bonus £1 hadn't started being used yet. Funny thing is, I haven't even scraped off the code on the top-up card let alone used it, so I also got the £10 calling credit that you got too!

The reason I got this phone is because you can get 3 Orange Magic Numbers with it, so you can call another Orange mobile phone for just 15p for up to an hour, anytime of the day/night

Anyhow, for my £19.99 I got the phone, £10 credit on it, £1 bonus credit for registering, £10 top up card - so £1 up in credit already

Shame quidco hasn't tracked yet mind. Good deal all the same, and if I'd realised just how good it was then I'd've posted it when I bought mine (I just assumed that all mobile companies did deals like that as I'd only looked at Orange because that's what my gf was on and what I wanted cheap call Magic Number for).

just got mine........ its locked to orange.

anyone know where to unlock it?

No really at the checkout it definatly asks for £19.99 with £10 credit

You're right. It does say top-up required when you checkout now but it didn't when this offer was first posted. It's still a good buy though even with the required top-up. Mine arrived yesterday. My normal phone is a Motorola L6 and this phone is a bit smaller than I'm used to so I find it's too easy to press more than one key at the same time accidently but as a spare for emergencies, it's fine.

does any1 has this phone yet?
what the connection to the charger look like?
is it usb(Alcatel E801 phone) or the normal round charger?

I registered my phone on Thursday and got the £1 bonus credit, just checked my balance today and its £10.00 :-D
