Maybe not strictly a deal, but just to get the info out there, standard price, but what a saving % wise!

Basically 2p less & contain around 2/3 of a tesco pack!
SO are you really getting "value"? at Tesco's

If your kid(s) are anything like mine then instant noodles are a staple on days when they won't eat properly, or in a rush to get to Cubs & clubs etc..
Normal price, for a markedly substantial qty which on a budget, if you take these noodles to work in a flask (ok, so maybe I'm a tad odd, ..warm but odd) it's a very generous helping of noodles in a far richer more flavoursome liquid "soup". @18p per pack & these have an extra 43 grammes of noodles & flavouring by direct comparison.

Now compare that to the 20p everyday value Tesco's like for like chicken noodles, if you've been giving em a pack each, then perhaps try nipping over to Aldi if it's not out of the way.

(NB popped em in a stainless steel vacuum flask with some pre-heated Aldi-furters, to try & compare to our usual purchase of "Herter-furters" ..was very happy, & considerably fuller)!

So whilst a lot of you doubtless already are wise to this, product comparison, just thought I'd put it out there, the portion size is considerably larger & cheaper buying these Aldi noodles.

Daughter recommends the BBQ beef.

NB my only grumble with this is the "palm oil" ingredient claim compared to "vegetableoil in tesco's noodles, however what do they class as vegetable? ..not clear right now.

Other flavours: Curry, BBQ beef...

Clearly as parents we are damned if we do and damned if we dont.
Seems we cant do right for doing wrong.
Wish the folk with the magic book of answers would shed some light??

Apart from "Finest cheese" im completely converted to Aldi. I find Aldi`s whole range better than Tesco standard (take for example no grissle in Aldi sandwich meat)

Price wise i find Aldi to be 40% cheaper.

Thankyou Darwa, it is indeed up to folk to differentiate, however as you clearly know the labelling is "misleading" to say the least, & no matter ones best efforts you will fall foul at some point, but no doesn't mean it should be ignored, only today there was an announcement that ranforest destruction speed is markedly up compared to the past few years, for both farming & industrial purposes (source: bbc radio4).

The point is pocket & knowledge, we can demand once we know change within a range of consumables, for instance, i'm waiting for Tesco to confirm one way or the other what they use across the board for their edv noodles, information we will take on board accordingly, we also know many items with a "trustmark" (e.g. German TUV testing is often one off, or periodic, therefore prone to change according to supply of base materials, this is highlighted in the recent breast implants scandal which were "T.U.V. approved, now that firm / body is part liable & part of the pay out, the original company & (genuine offender) having declared themselves bankrupt & severely offset / limited their liability.

Whereas horsemeat scandal....ongoing, still no prosecution, on a gross mislabeling of "meat" & part of the contaminated food not fit for human consumption scandal affecting MILLIONS! ..makes one wonder doesn't it!?

It's tough out there.

Don't know why people are hating on your response ... You don't need to be a trained dietician to realise how bad these are !! Read the front of the pack! There's a reason they moved it to the front ...

You also can not claim that this is the same as Asians eating egg or rice noodles. They are VERY DIFFERENT.

I'm not judging anybody ... I'm just saying everybody's allowed there say

But then again judging on the basis of not knowing the full background, nor asking, making false assumptions, supposition, or just being plain wrong with no regards to the potential finer detail, which is why I asked Orcinus_orca for clarity within their point made.

It has no nutritional value. It is heavily refined, the (wheat) flour is stripped down of its nutrients, bleached and then processed in noodles. Then the other ingredients (sauce) are probably full of artificial preservatives and E numbers

Welcome back Orcinus, & thanks for following up on your original comment.
So, like a lot of things then IF you are'nt a "heavy user" (like Mc D's 3 x visits per month are deemed to be) & are backing up dietary requirements with proper foods then this is fine right? ...not the best but for kids who balk at spotty pasta for instance (spinach bits) for instance these may be used as a step towards an ideal eventual "grown up" food standard.

The days of sitting at the table till it's all gone doesn't do much except reinforce to a kid a dislike / hate & stubborn refusal, but a circuitous food route to get the original job done or not at all, better yes!?

My kid does not & cannot live by instant noodles alone, but "food exploring" & food association works very well when trying to introduce different ingredients & steady additions into the dietary mix.

Sometimes for the sake of bulking out, compared to a no food missed meal & a screwed up gut, this processed schmutter can work.

I'm in the desert, thirsty, but there's no volvic on offer, do I dehydrate & all the consequences of that? no, there's an ideal & rationality, your peanut butter deal, (forgive me, I looked ) does the company have ethics or profit in mind? ..is it the sum of a desire to do good for the Orang-utans of Borneo or something else?, have they changed, or modified their ways suppliers & techniques down the line? ..answer yes, for instance, cane sugar & nuts shipped 1/2 way round the world ..necessary? not really, there are alternatives, such as beet within the uk for sweetening effect.

It boils down to how far you wish to critique everything as to justifiable or not (we are all guilty of that) ...we merely try to tweak lifestyle across the course of a whole life rather than live one of total denial (unsustainable) & unless that peanut butter is pushed in handcarts to the buyer, then sent on sailboat (organic cotton sails) & processed via a solar powered peanut butter facility then all is questionable to a point, the source of energy to create the raw materials that power the machinery, the way the metal for machinery is mined, the possible contamination by use of certain types of jar capping... we can be critical down to the n'th degree, & if so then most of what passes through HUKD should send certain types to bedlam.
(that sailboat, was possibly marine teak / chandlry wood from the Orangs home )

On a long trip carrying kit on a cold hill where not eating can result in dulled senses, hypothermia & putting oneself into danger, then a pack of noodles, the liquid soup & a refined snack of chocolate can make all the difference. ..I can eat well (to better dietary fulfillment) when I'm back safe & sound.

it's a tough call, & in some instances the budgetary constraints others here are left in at this moment in time do not currently allow them to eat as well, nor as conscientiously, but doesn't necessarily mean they never intend to raise the bar* (wife had a 15% pay cut, but it's ok say the politico's "we're all in this together" ..voting a 10% payrise on a very nice lifestyle dealwhilst in service, pension, golden handshake & re-orientation package when leaving or forced to leave office, already). oO

I think, as per the original post, we could do a lot better listing ingredients such as veg oil being palm oil or not, but that's not necessarily immediately in our hands as day to day hard pressed consumers.

context: 1stramseyscoutgroup.weebly.com/1/c…tml ..a lot of bringing together food ingredients then stepping it up through basic familiarity, a few pages there, & around another 30 waiting to go prospectively, food is a major discussion in our lives but being too forceful too much of the time & she'll not be inclined to listen, (she's munching on homemade kale chips right now, slammed in the oven straight after school, a regular friday night "treat"

wow! you lost me at hi

You don't have to be a 'trained dietitian' to know that eating these just once in a while isn't going to kill you. No one is trying to claim you will get your five a day from instant noodles!

BTW morrisons are open & honest about their palm oil,
Tesco's finally got back to me, they are VERY furtive, their Veg oil IS PALM OIL, if that makes a difference to you, allegedly from an ok source, ..just like their horse burgers!

(but honestly, it just go's to show how far they will go to hide information from you).
