I love that cooking bacon. So much nicer than the stuff you don't cook.
Always wondered what sort of bacon you don't cook...
Only use for this......

Cook till its really crispy

Save the bacon to one side and add the mostly cooled fat to dry mix of muffins.

Add crumbled cheese and chopped chives

Add crumbled bacon

Add wet ingredients and cook your muffins

MMMmmmm muffins......

Mmmm sounds baconilicous...
Half a packet makes a nice stock for lentil soup!
Great for lentil soup thanks
Hhhmmm, sweepings off the butchery floor. Lush.
Tesco do 500g for 80p so this is cheap.

Pick through the packs and sometime you get quite good bits.
last pack I got was like thin streaky slices Ideal for covering turkey/chicken wrappong prawns/sausages.

The bigger bits get trimmed(if needed) for sarnies.

If you like smoked you can find end cuts that are really tasty.

Lol. God it looks vile
I bought Sainsburys cheap bacon once, looked like lots of slices in the package. Did in fact contain three slices one inch thick. I'll stick to the regular priced stuff.

If you boil it an hour and then roast it an hour, it makes delicious cold ham for slicing
What else do you do with bacon?

Can be a bit pot luck. The thick stuff fine in pasta etc though Sometimes it's practically a bacon steak.
If you can get a pack that has thick pieces in it its easy enough to cut it into thinner slices, works out a lot cheaper than
buying one of those packs with 6-8 slices in.
Good luck with your salt intake goals of 2016 and other chemicals this cooking bacon is filled with,
I always cook it for a few mins and than just drain the white stuff that comes out of it,
Have not tried aldi's but sainsburys is a class above the nasty nasty asda/tesco stuff.

Thanks According to myfitnesspal I am chronically salt deficient would you believe! So it can't hurt.

I've not noticed any white stuff, but I always cook it in my George Foreman grill. GFG FTW!

Bacon bikini?

This bird has gone gaga what a turkey! Saying that, covering the breasts with streaky bacon does keep them juicy especially when giving a long roasting. Fnar
Top tip;
if you have cheap bacon cook it in the oven wrapped in sage leaves* and foil
comes out tasting lovely

*you need a cheap supply of sage leaves for this to really be a top tip

Might have to grow some sage just to try this Sounds gourmet
tescos cooking bacon has always been 80p a pack for 900g, and that is almost always thick cut middle bacon - usually nice rashers i can't see the reason for repackaging (sometimes lumpy or smokey bits depending on batch but you can tell by looking). sizzles and shrinks in pan due to sugary water added but that's par for the norm in cheap bacon - aldi do the best sandwich bacon at £1.60 for 220g but the tesco stuff does what it says on the tin (sic.).

think i've tried aldi and sainsburys versions of cooking bacon but they are usually more expensive and scrappy fatty offcuts (aldi) or lumpen smoked chunks (sainsburys).
