Cheapest could find anywhere on & off line, normally an 8 gang 8 socket with surge is £17-24.

This one is £9.99 and will no doubt be handy for all the HUKD home / electrical / computer / audiovisual deals you bought and do not have enough plug space for!

This has the added bonus of a master switch on the extension.

Great for Audio / Visual / Computer / Gigging use :-)

Please post if you can find one cheaper.

The masterplug one from Screwfix on sale from £14.99 to £9.99 is NOT switched.

Solid advice guys and gals

These 'surge protection' things are just an ordinary extension with a 50p MOV installed inside, make your own.

But an 8 gang for £10 is OK, so heat.

You can't overload the socket because this will be fused at 13A in the plug.

Would this be ok for plugging a condensing dryer into?
At the minute we are waiting for an electrician to fit an extra socket in our pantry, so for now we are using the heavy duty extension cable I use for gardening (fully unwound, never left on when we're not in).
Expecting an electrician in the next couple of weeks, but in the meantime this seems like a safer option that the 10m extension we have unwound all around the kitchen!

Good price for an 8way with a switch. I'm looking for an individually switched one though. There's a deal up at the moment for a 4 way individually switched, but I'd prefer this one.

Just bought this Sivitec 8 Way SURGE Protected 2m Extension Lead Switched NEON 8 Gang
You are better of with individual switching for phones etc.
amazon.co.uk/dp/…tem
seems well finished just using it to charge a tablet

for 2 quid more you can get a similar one at amazon which has individual switches thereby helping save energy

Is it possible to get a switched 8 gang that doe NOT used NEON switches? I don't want a light show under my AV stand!

Both look exactly the same apart from the more expensive one being fulfilled by Amazon.
Gone for the £10.39 version. Thanks rother, looks a great deal - you should post it as one.

Hmm, "see more product details" states

Should be OK, depends upon how powerful the 'condensing dryer' is, this is rated 3120w, I would expect the 'condensing dryer' to be less than that

Steve

Aldi one says max 3120 w. The others on Amazon don't say what the max watts are as far as I can see.

How would individual switches help to save energy? The 8 lights in those switches will use energy.

I picked up a belkin one from Amazon with a VERY handy feature - two of the sockets rotate, allowing me to fit a couple of plugs with transformers built in.

The Aldi one is good value, but I wouldn't be able to use all 8 sockets with my devices.

I'm a massive aldi and lidl fan but this not so great in my opinion. Screw fix have two great leads with USB for same price.

Me 2!

Afaik, this is still the lowest priced, switched, surge protected, 8 socket extension lead on line. Picked a few up and they are superior build quality to both the masterplug ones and a few branded ones we have tried, double the price with usb ones as well!

Will add the term "usb" to my googoogadget's search terms running and see if anything new pop's up
