If anyone buys this can they let us know if it's filled with water please. Stopped buying at Asda as theirs were getting worse

these are always these prices. the 28 day matured ones are more. these stakes are lovly. i buy myself and partner a steak once a week and never have a bad one. just search through the packs and pick a good cut.

I'm not pregnant. .. I just really need a juicy kebab. I don't eat a lot of meat but when I crave it I proper crave it!

I don't buy meat from Aldi since finding out it is halal and I don't agree with that way of killing.

lidel meat is better but still hot

Eat loads of Aldi steaks, rarely get a poor one (but when I do it's usually because the missus just threw a steak in the trolley without looking at it), even then its nowhere near as bad as anything from Asda or Morrison's.

The 30 day aged steaks are sublime too for the money but are nearly twice the price of these.

Not always, local butchers can vary massively whereas a steak from Aldi will be fairly consistent around the country!

agree, they don't even know if the meat Is or isn't halal. I for one do not wish to eat meat that has been slaughtered in the halal way and especially with the prayer of a silly fake god upon it.

The meat Aldi buy is in mass quantities and is British, why would they pay extra for the meat to be Halal .

The rib eye are the same price and taste better.

I agree - rib-eye is my choice every time

all prepacked supermarket meat is terrible, go to the farm shop or at least the meat counter, Morrison's is incredibly good value , Sainsbury's is expensive, and I don't have a local tescos, all others not worth looking at.

just off to farm shop now to buy bacon & chicken in bulk, works out much cheaper that way too. The steaks you can get for just a little more there would stop you giving these packaged steaks to a dog.

steaks are normally 2 for £7 at asda.
they are fine and it's a good deal but I think the aldi ones are bigger

do Morrison's not sell them at their butcher's counter. I'd imagine if they do they would be better than what asda or aldi can offer.

yes they do and they are very good, often very cheap too,

also didn't notice how small the aldi ones are, which man would ever buy an 8oz or less , that's a child's steak.

Have you actually tried the Aldi steaks?
I havent had a duff one.
I also by meat from supermarket butchers counters and wholeheartedly agree with you that Morrisons meat is way above the rest.
I have to take you to task about "pre packaged".
All meat comes into supermarkets butchers counters vac-packed.

In fact unless a butcher slaughters his own beasts, most of what you buy in your local butchers shop is going to come to him vac-packed from the abattoir, unless it is a side.
And you cant fairly compare meat at this price with a self-producing butcher offering meat with trace ability and provenance.
Have you seen their prices?
I think by law, they should be made to place chairs outside their shop windows - because the last time I looked in one I certainly needed to sit down!

I always get one or two of these when I go to Aldi and they've always been great. Not as greet as what you would buy from a butchers but good enough for £3

A lot of people post on here that you should support your local butcher and their meat is better quality and value. Last week I was in Tewkesbury walking past a respectable traditional butchers shop who all the locals rave about. There was a wholesale butchers lorry outside and I pointed out to my two boys the whole sides of pig hanging from the roof, when I looked closer I noticed all the boxes of beef were either from Namibia, Brazil or Argentina. So much for supporting local farmers. At least Lidl and Aldi buy British. heat from me.

I find Aldi steaks to be great quality for the price.

I always get the rib eye steaks from Aldi, won't get them from anywhere else and never had a bad one yet.

to be fair i've never seen the truck dropping off at the butchers, but they're all marked up a Scottish beef. they'll obviously be butchers that play the market too though. fat content seems to be alot less as you can pick your cut. depends if you want the fat to cook through though.

i'll watch the truck coming next time

Paying a higher price to a local butcher who uses cheaper imported meat is still supporting the local butchers business though. Maybe he's a friendly guy and people enjoy chatting to him? Personally I prefer a juicy steak, none of that dried out grass-fed stuff from abroad.

Reading this thread suggests that it would be more helpful if folks started comparing the lengths of pieces of string!

Thanx for the reply. Appreciate it.

I've been getting mine from the butchers at £5 a steak (they are huge) but very fatty. Recently they haven't been as good, so I'll try Aldi

Erm Cow eat grass. That is all they can digest. It is why they live in fields of grass and eat pickled grass (silage) in the winter. They get all their nutrients from fibre in their four stomachs. Uk beef is generally under 30 months when it is killed due to having to have the spine removed if it is older due to the risk of BSE. Your Zebu from Namibia which loosely resembles a cow is not adhered to these restrictions and could be 10 years old.

try a butchers rump steak, bit of a less pricy cut and ask for no fat and you should get something you'll be surprised with.

Tried them and yummy !!

But, my moral is you get what you pay for!! Why scrimp, if it's something you enjoy. If you work hard don't you deserve your treats??
