Found 28th Mar 2017
Another porker from Aldi..

This is a great deal for those chicken-lovers out there who have had enough of the recent KFC let-down..

ONLY £3.79... yes, under a fiver!!

This is a fresh whole chicken, yes WHOLE. It is hand-flavoured with premium spices including lemon and ginger. Free-range. Aldi quality too..

Can be deep fried, ovened, grilled or microwaved for perfection. It s succulent, juicy and tender.

The flavours are amazing. I had a whole one of these last week one evening, and it was quite satisfying and filling.

Hurry, while stocks last. Not many left on the shelves. Can be frozen.

Thanks

NOT FREE RANGE

    porkie?
It's not free range, but it is Red Tractor. Good if the standard is being adhered to where the chicken is being grown.
    Wonders why it's cold

Possibly the stupid comment that's been removed (that user has made a fantastic contribution to this site so far....not)
Maybe the porker comment doesn't fit with some members

But as yet zero educated or factual response as to why this deal is getting cold votes...well done you down voters

Heat from me OP it's a good price for a full chicken
It's all crap i'm seriously thinking of turning veggie but i love my meat what can i do ?

Maybe because people aren't especially impressed by the price? Right now, for example, a medium-sized whole chicken from Tesco can be bought for £2.31 per kilo whereas the Aldi one (posted here) is £2.53 per kilo.

In all fairness, the price is quite good for the quality of the product.. I'd say that the Aldi fresh chicken is much better quality than Asda or Tesco versions. Don't forget this is fresh. Supermarket ones aren't..

    What's not fresh about this?:

    tesco.com/gro…149

    And the description includes:
"Expertly selected for freshness and quality. We care about welfare, that's why
these Tesco chickens are reared by Scottish farmers and enjoy an enriched
environment with natural daylight and bales to improve the activity and
wellbeing of the birds. Our chicken meets Red Tractor standards, as well as our
    own strict agricultural requirements".
At £3.79, we can only wonder at the miserable, short, and drug-filled existence that these chickens endured.

So one can't win either way it seems. Too expensive and it's COLD. Too cheap and people speculate about the conditions of the animals..

If you just go on price then it's not a particularly good deal. The Asda website is currently selling a whole chicken for £2.39, which equates to £1.99 per kilogram. If this were a good quality, well-raised chicken for £3.79 then perhaps it might stand a chance as being seen as a good deal, but it isn't. It's difficult to see how or why this might be considered a good deal.

How do you know that it isn't a 'good quality, well raised' chicken? Are you just going by the supermarkets own descriptors or do you have some independent verification?

cold, im vegan so this isn't useful to me

I see the cold-voting lemmings are downvoting a perfectly good deal again for no reason. Same British chickens as sold anywhere else, same suppliers - just a lower price. Should be hot, but that takes no account of lemmings.

But it's not "a lower price". Do your research. Fresh chickens in other supermarkets, Tesco for example, are currently cheaper. It is you who is the 'lemming'.

Look again - this is a Cook in a bag British Lemon & Ginger Whole Chicken. Nowhere to be seen on the Tesco website (or any other) at that price. And if you're talking bog-standard fresh British chickens, you'll find that Aldi (and Lidl) are undercutting Tesco by more than 20% - as usual.

Wow, I should definitely pay a premium for the fact my chicken is in a bag. Lemon and ginger optional. This deal is currently -158 degrees. Doesn't that tell you something?

Maybe the misinformation that this is free range when it isn't.
