Your car doesn't need a battery to run. You could start your car and unplug the battery and everything would work as normal. Your battery is only used for starting the car and also if using the radio for example with the engine turned off. Your alternator is what powers everything once the car is running

If you wait until the car doesn't start, you really should be ashamed.
This time of year we have most of the electrics on... heater fan, headlights, heated seat etc etc... the alternator cannot cope with this and recharging the battery, so you'll find your battery will slowly discharge over winter, more so if you only do short journeys (20 mins or less) so it's a good idea to top up the charge now and again, Coz you know it'll be snowing and/or raining the one time it does happen!

Also have one, definitely worth the price.
Are these any good for leisure batteries?
Thanks for sharing. Purchased
Re leisure batteries. Yes. Might take a while 110ah ÷ 3.8ah= quite a while but wont overcharge and will maintain top off voltage.

My car didn't start that once about 3 weeks ago whilst we were having a dinner break during traveling. My garage tested my battery and said it's fine, prob just the cold weather and running all the electrics you mentioned.

My previous message wasn't a dig at the product, I'm genuinely new to these products and don't know anything about them. Asking questions to see if this product would help us if it happened again whilst traveling.

Now I'm wondering if my alternator is faulty, will do some research into it.

The cheapest route to follow is a new battery before anything else.
Try that before spending out vast sums of money.

I haven't done on my car because I know that you can do it if necessary. All I stated was you don't need the car battery for your car to run I'm not saying to go and do it. The reason behind my statement was because somebody said the item listed wouldn't run a car.

No idea what you mean but I'm sure you know what your're thinking. It charges batteries though, it doesn't charge cars BMW, Honda or Maclaren etc

Like I said. I don't need to try it because I know what happens. The car still runs as normal
Once again, we get another major company, ALDI UK, that doesn't deliver to ALL parts of the UK!!
Hi, My first question in Hot UK deals. I've had a look in the charger manual, but I cant see if this charger will charge AGM batteries. What is the experts view on using this charger for AGM batteries? If it does then I'm off to get one of these charges.
Edited by: "siggi" 11th Feb
Good charger at a great price but my model from a couple of years ago won't charge a battery from completely flat. Not sure if this is still the case.
So bought one and still ended up having to use the neighbours.

I've an old car and battery warning light came on. Eventually it wouldn't start, thankfully on the driveway. I charged the battery with an old charger (everything's old you've gathered, a bit like me) and got it to my garage. Original battery was still on it and low. He fitted new battery and assumed everything was ok until the light came on again while driving home. Was checked again and thought it needed a new alternator. Disconnected cables etc to check things and then told to bring it back to get the job done which wasn't cheap. I noticed no light and it's been fine since. Some problem with the connections which was rectified when they were taken off and put back on again so you may want to check those.

What absolute piffle. To anyone reading what this idiot has written, DO NOT TRY IT. IF YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY ON A CAR WITH AN ALTERNATOR YOU WILL SERIOUSLY DAMAGE THE ALTERNATOR.
