I've just come back from my weekly shop and Aldi have carrots, parsnips, Brussel sprouts and broccoli all at 28p each. Looks like the Christmas veg price war is about to start. Personally, I'm rooting for Kevin.

Best before date?

Unimportant for the carrots, potatoes, parsnips. Open the bag, and keep them in a cool place (garage, shed) and they'll be fine until well into the new year.
it's the only time of year I can afford to eat healthily yet the only time of year I don't want to eat healthily?

Potatoes and Swede might also be the same price, but I never checked unfortunately
Peel them slice them freeze them
"rooting for kevin"
HOT -- Lidl import theirs from Israel!!
Carrots, sprouts and parsnips 29p in Lidl - so just shows Aldi have to beat them by 1p.

I like Lidl veg as so much of it is UK grown.

Slice them in two down the lengthy side sprinkle with cumin then steam in a pan with a lid ....simple but awesome

Go look and post it! 2-3 months when frozen lol
That carrot picture was sponsored, apparently, by Durex Ribbed with Cumin.
Much better than Tesco veg. Great for people on a budget.

Merry Christmas all.
Ok if you live near an Aldi but hardly worth getting the car out for me, cost more in petrol to get there lol
The other supermarkets started this six days ago.
Bought mine in Tesco 29p each earlier today and was impressed by how good the quality was. Plenty of stock and constantly being replenished with fresh stock as people are buying lots of it.
Had a leg of lamb, Potatoes, Carrots, Cauli & Parsnips for just under £9.50, that's tomorrows lunch sorted

Keep them in the dark too, helps stop them sprouting if they are going to be left for a few weeks

Really? They have been stored in a warehouse for the past 6 months or longer
Have to say Aldi's prepared honey/maple Syrup parsnips and roast Potatoes packs were lousy last year. A friend said the same.

Will be doing my own Roast spuds and parnips from fresh this year.
The quality of Aldi’s sprouts last year were atrocious! - hoping for better this....

In what way is this better than Tesco veg ?

The Tesco deal was posted here a few days ago and included potatoes, so I would say that the Tesco deal is much better, as the stores near me are easier to get to than Aldi or Lidl, and at 29p per item it's not worth going out of the way, especially when Tesco also have a café, clothing toys etc, so can buy almost everything under one roof, and you can't say that about Aldi.
The Tesco cauliflowers are large, rather than a smaller size because of the price, and all their stuff was fresh and constantly being refilled, as someone else mentioned earlier.
How long do sprouts last? Need to get some for next week!
They will be at this price (or maybe less) until Christmas. Sprouts will usually keep a couple of weeks in the bottom of the fridge but make sure you open the bag to prevent them from rotting. With sprouts some of the outer leaves may start to yellow. If that happens, just peel off the yellowing leaves and use as normal.

Good tip about opening the bag.
Just come back from Aldi Calcot and veg now 19p in response to Asda's 20p offerings.
Veg will be 10 pence in Asda tomorrow.
And all I hear is Remoaners on about the rising cost of food. One tried to rub it in this morning telling me Xmas dinner will be so expensive this year. I asked hIm to take his blinkers off! It's never been cheaper! - There must be a glut of spuds for them to sell 2.5kg for 29p! (what with Tesco and others around the same price too). I told him about Aldi veg and he said 'Probably all rotten.' Idiot!
aldi.co.uk/c/s…xt=

Still, the Remoaners can buy theirs at higher prices as they know no better.

Food. Real food. It's cheap as chips. FFS I used to tip the dustman, the milkman, the posties et al years ago. Don't do it now as there are no milkman, the dustman's gone before I wake up, and the posties don't hang around because it could cost them their job. More money saved.
Good days! Roll on Brexit.

At my local Aldi in Bristol today they had Maris Piper Potatoes 2.5kg at 28p and IMO are far superior to the Tesco Whites.
Nobody GIVES a shit. Truly, this post is a waste of time. Tho i expect the price of veg to stabilise after brexit nobody actually gives a toss.
