its not an ip camera so it will be lines not resolution so its at best standard definition (480i).
if it connects directly to the TV - and so unable to record to a storage device - then I find it hard to understand what use it will be, unless you use it as an extra TV channel.

It'll more than likely have yellow/white phono leads.

And black clothing and green grass will probably show as purple.

obviously posted by an Aldi enthusiast,,, this is a very low spec, pay more money get a better higher spec camera which you can record onto suitable equipment, you only have to watch crime watch to see what lousy quality cameras some people use.

No one mentioned ip cameras.

TVL is measured in resolution.

Btw 480i is a resolution.

or pay less for a better basic camera on eBay..

I have an expensive cctv setup covering cars, bikes and a boat but use cheap eBay cameras to monitor animals etc and to keep an eye on the front drive for mail/couriers/visitors when in the back of the garage/garden

I have an old version of this aldi camera bought from tesco years back, excellent picture and audio but these newer versions with "wide angle lenses" are awful

depends what people want to use the camera for, if you want to record then the cheap ones are not ideal but they're perfect if you just want to check who is at your door, watch the kids (your own obviously) in the garden, check on your pets etc

avoid this though, just search on eBay there are hundreds of better ones

these are decent for example, have a couple in my set up and they were only around £12 each + a few quid for cable + power adapter

Looked at this camera and thought would give it a miss due to the fact the Nintendo camera plugged into my 20 year old green screen Gameboy would be better!

CPC are currently selling much higher TVL cameras for less with free delivery.

Just correcting the incorrect post you made. Actually you contradicted yourself, first by saying it's 'lines not resolution', but then when on to state it's at best '480i', which as I pointed out is actually a 'resolution'.

TVL (Television Lines) is measured in resolution.

It's always a good idea to correct misinformation, just in-case others take it as being true.

you want to see another mans sausage? there are specific sites for that..
pony camera, waste of money
Elderly/disabled etc. see who is at the door type camera via your tv or monitor. Callers wouldn't know it doesn't record and likely it could be connected to a recorder.
Great deal

"stupider" and "argumenting" aren't words? (Just something to stop all the argumenteringnessywessy)
OK maybe as an observation camera, imo better putting the money to something better that records also.
If you're looking for indoors cameras, I would suggest going for the Xiaoyi that allows to control everything from your smartphone, has motion sensor to notify when there is movement and even send voice messages to it wherever you are. It costs 2 more quid @ Gearbest and it's dispatched from their warehouse in London. I got mine two days ago and thus far it's been the best camera I've had.

Most of the times someone writes "you can find better" but gives no link it's not even true.
If you found something better and cheaper at CPC, why not post a link?

Posting a picture as an example... why not an item number or a link?
Would one of the pros be able to recommend something similar to this, but with the ability to record?

Is it NTSC then? Surely if it's PAL then standard definition is 576i (just thought I'd join in).

This whole argument is caused by the fact that "resolution" originally meant "number of lines that can be resolved" - ie the count of individual black and white stripes that can be seen as individual before they merge into one grey mass.
With the coming of digital, the term "resolution" was (wrongly, IMO) appropriated to mean the pixel count.

Wonderful explanations of its usefulness on that link:

" You can double-click to 4x zoom to view accident by your lovely pet.
Find it sleeping in the sofa or chew your shoes in the corner, shout it immediately 'stop the destruction' by voice function"

i have one of these and the resolution is very good , for me its a very good piece of kit for the price , i have it in my window of my flat and i can just turn the tv to the output channel and its a very good picture , i connected it to my dvd player its not a recorder but i can see who is coming or going to my block of flats also it is pointing at my car so i have my mind at ease over my car , the night mode is also very clear , also if its not for you or you dont like it you can always return it , but for me what you get for the price is a very very good bargin and you will be amazed at the picture quality
