Repair......the lawn

Sainsburys have their own lawn repair that covers the same area for £2.99 if anyone goes there instead.

I've seen something similar in Poundland, though I've never used it.

How much was it?

Original Poster

the key is how many sqm does it cover as there's quite a few on ebay for much less but not nearly as much sqm

Nice I tend to go for evergreen 4-in-1 but it tends to be extortionate so Im going to give this a try

Original Poster

the only one on sainsburys website is £9.99 for c.20sqm!

£1 for 5sqm in pound world

weed and feed is different from lawn repair

if you are comparing weed and feed, than aldi also have that for £3.99 to cover 83sq m

Is this good then? I saw it today, and need some, but it seems expensive (never having looked at it before)

It's half the price because it contains low concentrations of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium (NPK) and as a result, it will not work as well or as quickly as 'Big brands'

I presume they are trying to inform us of the quantity of grass seed in the kits from pound world, just a guess though...

Get what you pay for most of the time with these things, although even the brand name stuff is still very cheaply made rubbish, the amount if people I see who have done more damage than good from using stuff like this is unreal. As someone has mentioned above, if your after a better lawn without much effort get someone like Greenthumb in. If you have the patience, good spreader (not one that drops it down in lines!) and willing to water it in well then give it a go. If you have a lot if moss then be prepared to rake it out also.

So what's it do ?

Yeah...what's it do man?

Not much info apart from: 500g lawn food and 500g lawn seed.

Lawn food would be fertiliser which promotes growth and colour.

Lawn seeds, pretty self explanatory here.

This does not look to tackle any weed or moss. It's only really useful on bare patches on your lawn.

Deffinetly get green thumb or other company's alike to do it for a bit extra simply because they use good quality seed etc, I'm sure the picture looks nice on the box, but not realistic.

Sooo if I don't put lawn feed on it won't grow so quick? Interesting...

The £2.99 Sainsburys offer is seed only and isn't a lawn repair kit.

If you use a starter fertiliser yes it would help (but I'm not sure what fertiliser is in this particular product). I would associate lawn food for use on an already established lawn, rather than something which would help germinate the grass seed faster. I personally just use compost when I sow grass seeds.

Hey thanks for taking the time out for this information, there some great peeps here.

Hey guys, as this thread interests some keen gardeners I thought I ask a question.
After 7 years of beautiful lawn planted from seeds this winter I got large patches of moss.
Apart from ripping it out and plant new seeds, is there any other solution?
Maybe some particular products you can recommend?
Thanks

rent a lawn scarifier (or put in some time with a spring bock rake), spread some additional top dress mix and once established give it a good all round feed :-)
