Wow went Aldi but didn't bother looking at home stuff. They look nice too
Was good because we would be paying around £10 each for these in Wickes! :-)
Will check to tommorow just what we need....Thanks op
They had these discounted in Standish last week if that helps anyone.
MK DP single socket £2.18 at screwfix. Toolstation might even be cheaper. Learnt my lesson with cheap switches etc and when buying sockets get double pole switching stuff.
Also discounted in Ely. Looks national to me. If I wasn't renting I'd have bought some with the USB ones
good find op, heat added

But it's cheap so...who cares...right? (_;)

SP sockets are perfectly adequate.
If you have a modern type Fuseboard in the electric cupboard / garage then you'll see it has an earth leakage circuit breaker switch (ELCB). If your washing machine gets damp on the internal connections and you have a single pole socket then it will turn OFF all the electric. Even when its turned off at the socket. A double pole socket isolates both live and neutral cables at the switch and will give you less hassle.

You wont find an ELCB on any modern consumer unit. (_;) RCCBs and RCBOs and yes you do have a point.
Pulling out the plug also isolates both L&N and is second nature to most if an appliance is faulty.

When I receive a call that the electrics gone off they have no idea what's causing it. Washing machine - toaster - kettle - security light so they cant just unplug the faulty appliance as you say. I try to explain technical stuff in easy to understand terms. Other than Sparks no one knows of a RCCB or RCBO. Don't complicate things with your command of the 17th Edition Regulations (with amendments).

Yeah but they still have to flick all the switches off to identify the faulty appliance. Its just as easy pulling the plug.

Im not saying dont buy double pole, just that single pole is still adequate.

Wasnt trying to belittle you or complicate things. Was just throwing in the correct terminology for yourself or anyone that was interested.
I think its a good idea to understand what these things are and how they work as do yourself im sure.
And im not a spark btw
Pulling the fridge out - the washing machine out - the tumble dryer out - the gas cooker out (for the ignition) just to remove the plug is a waste of 1 -2 hours. And god help you if you damage the cushion floor lino. Stick with double pole. If you talk the correct terminology with homeowners they think you're talking in Latin. Whatever happened to the plain English campaign ? Good to see your taking an interest Callum84.
