Not working properly as it found me

    only in-store as from Sunday
Damn annoying when I walk through Aldi.
Are these things a "you get what you pay for" thing or is the technology pretty standard? No idea where the wiring runs in our house but wondering if cheaping out = risking electrocution trying to hang photo frames etc.
Most modern smartphones can act as a stud detector with an app.
These do work but sometimes not always as I found out in our house. Our house is about ten years old and has 3 layers of plasterboard for soundproofing so obviously this doesnt work, as I found out after many hours of shouting at it. Wish it had of worked as my wall now looks like woodworm has been at it thanks to my "discovery" holes.

I think they are only limited to Metal's though using the compass onboard, so in theory they are not quite as accurate as the Magnetometers in Stud Detectors. But that maybe ample for some.

This one detects, live wiring, wood and metal (unsure what the deep scan mode is exactly) These seem pretty accurate judging from comments if you google it, but as always before drilling or knocking a nail into the wall you should also proceed with some caution.

I'm fairly confident this is good value for one of these devices, and I suspect that results will always vary, and Aldi are pretty good with returns so at this price its worth buying and trying and always returning if you are not happy

Hence why I persuaded my wife to buy a Windows Phone with a lack of apps
Came here to do a "it detected me" comment only to find i've been beaten to the punch.I leave disappointed and cold
I wonder if this would detect plastic pipes? Our place is a newbuild and all the central heating and water pipes are plastic. I can't see any of the runs in the house and I'm always really worried about putting nails or screws into the walls.

    also detects planks
I have one of these, got it from aldi back in june, I can tell its not accurate and totally waste of money, they are cheap for a reason, I know what you gonna say its got 3 years free warranty but believe me its not worth the headache.
I have one too, and find it very hard to use. The one in Toolstation forvabout £30 is much better, and will work out cheaper considering the costs of making a mistake.

Wow defiant detecting! Is that where it detects it but REALLY doesn't want to detect it and tells you all about it?
Ann Summers were selling these last month same price but with a free fanny magnet

    Ha ha
I bought one years ago and never used, keep it in the cupboard along with the others things I buy and never use.
these are pretty useless, bought one last year. There seems to be no consistency whatsoever with it's readings
I agree these aren't that good, I bought a different one from Aldi years ago that was OK, it also actually indicated direction of the metal/stud etc as you were scanning the wall and it was reasonably accurate but this one isn't a patch on that one.

    I

All the women I know can detect me fine without one.
I went through a cable with my drill. Not only did I get quite a shock I had to rip the plaster off the wall to fix it. All because I couldn't find my wire detector.
I bought one of these today. Better safe than sorry.
Been looking for wood posts in a ceiling without success for ages found in 2 secs with this gadget cheers heat added
just gave mine back to aldi n told manager that its useless n it could be fatal.
