Like Bill Burr said “fatties say it’s not cheap to eat healthy.... look at the supermarkets, they’re throwing veg at you, just take it all before it goes bad” lol
Well finally Aldi is trying to match the big supermarkets. Time is changing

Just wondering, did you look at the post on the link you posted .......!
If only they'd match the self checkouts.

Wouldn't work - not fast enough - they'd be clogged with people dithering! It's not like the regular checkouts move slowly is it?

While we're on the subject: a message to ALL supermarket shoppers (but especially the ladies): PLEASE sort out how you're going to pay and where your cash/card are BEFORE you pack all your stuff - those few seconds you're waiting in the queue should do it! Oh, and if you want a chat about the weather and your Bert's lumbago please shop at Waitrose; they're expecting you and the charge has been included in the prices!

Great price, but Aldi veg is pretty minging. Buy a 6 pack of apples, tomotoes or something and half will be bruised mush or full of holes. However it is cheap, and even if I have to buy 12 to get 6 good ones (its what I tend to do now) its still cheaper than morrisons across the road

I used to find their stuff had a shorter shelf life but not any more (last 2-3 years). Lasts as long as any other supermarket's produce in my experience. As far as the condition is concerned just check it as you buy, but again I don't find their's is any worse than the others'.

I find the fruit/veg much better at Aldi than Tesco.

Yes. We live such busy lives these days we cannot afford to waste even a few extra seconds in the checkout queue. There is our 3.5 hours of TV a day to cram into our tight schedules, and all that staring at our mobile phones too.

Since when did an apple become a veg, I know it's debatable that a tomato is either or, but apples......
Grab this, cut it all up, freeze it all ready to steam. Easy peasy

It's usually straight in front of you at Tesco.................
Great, I'll be able to make a big pot of soup pretty cheap, just in time for the snow coming again.

It works in Tesco, why would it be different? Also, they could make it 5 items or less or something similar, that way if your only buying a few things, you don't have to wait in line behind everyone doing their weekly shop.

I worked out the other day that I was spending just over a day a year brushing my teeth ! At least some of the TV can be enjoyable.

That’s a weeks worth of healthy soup for my children. And some bubble and squeak. 💪
Can they cut my carrots into batons please

Do you know how much effort that takes without a fancy £1000 industrial veg chopper?

Can't argue with veg regardless of the price.

I've tried. I've stood there for hours shouting at cabbages. I've tried berating the courgettes. All to no avail.

Aldi and Lidl have a very well-known and established packing system. It is kind of annoying when people dawdle with packing their shopping at the checkout when there's a packing shelf near the exit. Those people probably belong at M&S (joking).

Re self service - there's really no point in the German supermarkets introducing if as even when there's a massive queue there's usually minimal wait. I would like to see a contactless-only till though as the copper -clinkers do slow things down from time to time.

I buy veg from Aldi every week (as well as Asda and Tesco) and I can't really understand how it is any different - it all comes from the same sort of supplier, and I've never noticed any difference with use by dates - not that use by dates matter with veg, if it's kept properly!

Suspect jaydeeuk1 hasn't bought veg in Aldi since the days when they were short dated - 10 years ago?
