Philips screws are just the common cross and normally will be what you find in electronics etc.
Pozidrive ooks similar but can be identified by the cross offset to the main slot.

Unless the package explicitly states these are "VDE Certified", walk away, …Unless the package explicitly states these are "VDE Certified", walk away, I don't care how many times they have VDE written all over them, unless they are certified don't use them with anything live.

It does have the correct mark, but anything containing those awful "voltage testers" should be given a wide birth.

Says 2nd JULY on their website... which was a Sunday., so is to be believed.

Wera and Wiha both have those voltage testers in there sets so that alone not a good indication of the sets quality.

Safe isolation methods should always be used.

Yes you are right, I misread that - assuming it to be an August weekly deal.

As with all these deals they vary from store to store so you may get hold of them.

Use Wera as my main work set but these are fine as a back up.

Isn't this the regular price?
I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the tools (I am qualified as an electrician) and this is a good price for a cheap set of screwdrivers, but I can't see anything that makes it a hot deal.

Times have changed I'm afraid, live work should only be carried out if deemed unreasonable to be carried out dead and even then extra safety precautions must be taken including permits and risk assessment.

High voltage (1000v+) has even more precautions and regulations before work can start and it's only in rare circumstances that the live work is deemed a reasonable risk.

Yes it is the standard price, but when compared with competitors such as Screwfix etc, it's good value and therefore a good deal. The problem may be more one of sourcing them though, it does mean a trip to your local store to check. I'm very happy with my own set though.

I'm an electrical engineer myself and these are rated not so you can use them on live equipment, they are rated to protect you from inadvertently getting an electric shock . In the same way that you use yellow electrical safety steps, not so you can live work, but to protect you against electric shock if you accidentally do touch a live conductor.

Nice screwdrivers for the price.

Surely thats an American burger joint? ( sonic )

Very poor quality. Snapped my terminal (small slotted) screwdriver after half a days use. My previous (also very cheap) one lasted 5 years and I'm now using that again.

The bigger ones may be a bit stronger, but I wouldn't waste the money again, even for a fiver.

Trouble is we all use terminal screwdrivers as the go to screwdriver.....Not saying this is what happened in this case but I have to admit using a terminal driver on pozidrive screws sometimes rather that going back to the van for the right driver. That said my current Bahco set is standing up well even after a couple of years.

True.

(Not what happened here, but if you're going to buy a VDE terminal driver, it's worth paying for a really good one I reckon, cos as you say, they get the most misuse and abuse generally.)
