Some magnificent movies here. Thanks for posting such a great deal.

Very hot

Thanks, no have a present for my dad

Superb price.. cheapest it's even been surely!

Am hoping and waiting for the Amazon price-match. Don't like paying Play.com's over-inflated euro price! :x

Hottest deal I've ever seen! I want to buy it although I've got pretty much all the movies in this set already. Shame it does not include North by Northwest which is probably my favourite Hitchcock movie.

Be warned: The Birds, Marnie, Torn Curtain and Topaz are all pan and scanned.

Great deal - ordered

It's a way of adjusting wide-screen images to fit a standard 4:3 TV screen shape. The result is you lose parts of the image that are cropped from the picture. See description here for more info. en.wikipedia.org/wik…can

Thanks. Doesn't sound good. So even if I watched a dvd that had been panned and scanned on my widescreen tv would I still be losing some of the picture? or does it only apply to watching on a 4:3 TV?

If you like the hitchcock films then it's better to get the region one set as they are not pan and scan.

Bum. Three weeks after I bit the bullet and paid an exorbitant £17.99 for this excellent set..

If anyone fancies taking a crack at writing about the cock that is Hitched, the deadline for pitches is today:

Due to the P&S issue the region 1 set (for multi-region players) is the better one. However, given the huge price difference (unless someone's found R1 cheaper) unless you're a real film connoisseur I'd opt for this bargain.

Yes. Even on a widescreen TV you just see the clipped portion of the original.

excellent, 12..99 with my £2 macdonalds play.com voucher

Online retailers tend to mislead by showing these thumbnails, then when you receive it, it's just a regular fold-out DVD. At most they are a box which contains those mini-dvd cases...Could anyone confirm?EDIT: According to the reviews/comments they are in the mini/slimeline cases so the box will be half this size surely?

Yes, slimline cases....total 4" wide approx.

Actually,....looking again at the thumbnail,....it shows the box sat on the discs spines....the Hitchcock name in the pic is the front face of the box. If that makes sense?

This boxset consists of Universal films.

North by Northwest is Warner Brothers. :whistling:

Edit: This is the Warner Bros collection: play.com/DVD…tml But note that Play.com isn't the cheapest place for this, at this time
