Alien (1979) [HD UltraViolet Digital Copy] reduced to £4.99 @ blinkbox

I'm aware this won't be for everyone but for those wishing to extend their UltraViolet library this is a decent price for HD in my opinion. (seeing as it wasn't bundled with any of the box sets.)

May be worth checking your inbox if you haven't used them for a while as they've sent me a couple of vouchers for a further 50% off

Currently £7.99 on iTunes for those that prefer Apple...

Director Ridley Scott's breakthough film, an immensely successful blend of horror and science fiction, is a classic in both genres and spawned a host of sequels and imitators. Starring Sigourney Weaver as warrant officer Ellen Ripley, ALIEN focuses on the crew of the space cargo ship Nostromo, which lands on a moribund planet in response to a faint SOS. A brilliantly original fusion of insect, man, and machine designed by Swiss surrealist painter H.R. Giger.

They haven't sent me any since TalkTalk took over

Heat added.
Cheers, I got a 50% code as well. I didn't realise Blinkbox was still running.

I've had one and so has the Mrs, was able to redeem both codes on my account
Which version is this?
You don't get any of the special features available with the DVD or Bluray
What format is it?
Call me old fashioned but I'd go for a real physical copy anytime.
Voted icycold at £4.99

They sent me two emails yesterday (must have set up 2 accounts (_;) )

Both codes worked for the same account so bought this and 'Taken' HD (the first half decent one) for £2.50 each Would've thrown you a code TuRks if I hadn't already used them (sorry). I do have 'Jurassic World' spare if you don't already have it...

Respect your opinion but I already own the physical Blu-rays with all the extras etc but also wanted a digital copy for my UV library. (so I can watch on the move or away from home)

Therefore I don't need the extras and can make do with the theatrical cut. As I stated it won't be for everyone

Ok, I've already got this on Beta, Vhs, Several versions on DVD, I think I have at least one version on Bluray and I have no intention of paying yet again for a 'mobile' one, particularly one which is hedged round with restrictions. So I have other 'versions' for my media player.
I think I've paid in full already for this film.
It's bad enough that 'they' keep on producing more and more versions of the same thing. Steelbox versions, ultimate cut versions.
If I didn't suspect that this would be cropped from 2.35 to 1.85 (As most Blinkbox 2.35 content is) I might actually have gone for this.

you must really hate digital copies if it's this that finally gets you to stop buying the same film. You should probably be thankful as it sounds like a bit of an addiction that you had. Very happy you finally managed to beat it!

I've just bought 2001 A Space Odyssey and it appears to be playing in 2.20 / 2.35 not sure which (on my Roku via Flixster that is)

Pretty much every Flixster / Blinkbox 2.20 / 2.35 film I have has been cropped to 1.85.
I've emailed Blinkbox about it and got back a nonsense stock reply regarding 16x9 TV's.

Off the top of my head, Lego Movie and The Goonies are cropped on Blinkbox and both look atrocious. IIRK the suicide note in the beginning of Goonies is even chopped off with the cropping.
Not really much of a deal when you can buy it on blu ray for the same or less... digital should ALWAYS be cheaper than physical. Under all circumstances.

Haha. But since vhs, all are digital.
And it seems from other posts here that these commercial movie shared films are often low and/or non original format (I mean aspect ratio) and probably the sound, (some form of dolby surround sound) has also been compromised/removed etc, in the interests of smaller file size (it's not generally realised how much bigger a high quality sound track makes a file).
So having paid, I feel in full, many times over for these films, I feel fully justified in getting my digital copies from elsewhere, where the quality varies greatly, but can be very good, probably better than from commercial movie sharing sites, and where there is a vast resource of films which are now unobtainable anywhere else.

Agreed but technically 'physical' is also a digital format
