Great price for a 1070! Hot OP
The pic is of a 15r2 not the r4
AW12 promo apparently expired
AW12 just worked for me
Great deal
Thanks OP
Would it be worth buying to put on ebay for profit?
Should be 16GB ram in my opinion

If you sold it for £1300 using eBay and PayPal you would pay about £175 just in fees.
SSD not included..

Overpriced piece of junk

What’s a reasonably priced piece of junk?
Fantastic price! I own an R3 and these are impressive machines. I believe 8GB refers to the RAM the GPU has...
Thinking of getting the newer r4 version... What's the ips screen like vs this tn panel?
Alienware machines are solid. Good build and better cooling than other brands. They also seem to get the best battery life for laptops with G-sync
Code defo still works so heat from me!

Ahhh so tempted but just find my current AW14 is just the right size and the 15 a little big
Having bought an Alienware 13 R3 last year I wouldn't recommend the brand to anyone, but the couple of warranty replacements I got might have just been unlucky ones.

Cooling is good though, albeit loud but i'm *cool* with that (get it). Remember to update BIOS on these machines as they frequently get fan speed profile updates making them quieter while cooling the same.
decent price for this spec, whether you like Dell Alienware hardware or not.
Got pretty much this spec a year ago for the same price.... how things have changed. And I was clearly lucky to get mine when I did. Built like a tank, little noisey at times (put your headphones on) or undervolt. Good price considering the current prices of GPUs.
I have this exact laptop with but upgraded to 32gb RAM, 1535 Killer Ethernet and had the SSD pairing. Can 100% vouch that this can run any current title seamlessly not to mention looking amazing.

Couple of cons: The laptop is properly built so it's considered heavy, something to keep in mind (doesn't bother me) & the fans can get incredibly noisy at times but what can you expect when it's keeping a 1070 and i7 cool.. (again doesn't really bother me).

Keyboard is very nice too! Nice find OP, heat added.

Or wait for the next £1 max fees (no idea when it is though). Unsure on the cut PayPal will take.
personally i prefer a 17" screen for gaming, I guess some people don't mind slightly smaller screens? to be fair i hardly ever move mine around so portability is not a concern for me.

Note fans aren't annoyingly loud. Just a wooshing sound rather than high pitched whine.

How are your thermals? Crappy paste job or did you get lucky? This spec is infamous for overheating issues - hopefully yours has been great!

Not an issue. Though I have the best 3yr warranty included. Hoping it does fail when the 1080 is replaced
Good value but don't buy if you're looking for portability or aesthetics, this is one chunky ugly laptop!

I recently got a refurbished XPS 15 and Dell support are excellent.

Nope......?
Had 2 Alienware laptops and own then 15 and it's superb. Also have the graphics accelerator with a 1070 card .Fair enough they are over the top but I'm happy with mine and it's handy due to being able to upgrade the graphics card. Its never going to be as fast as a desktop but it's fine for me.
i also bought exact same laptop last year from dell but it was £1154

these sure hold their value
I received one of the older models with the processor thermal issue, I believe its to do with 2 of the cores not being properly seated. Within a week the controller board for the LED strips had failed and the ghosting on the screen was so insane, i returned it. Ended up with an MSI which i've had no trouble with. All anecdotal of course!
Anyone know if these use the standard Dell round power adapters? Makes a difference to me as it means I can avoid carrying one round between home, work, remote offices etc.

That’s a big unknown and the last lot of offers for that was account specific. Selling my surface pro I’m gonna take a hit if over £200.

The brick is the size of a house but I believe the connector is the same yes - whether a smaller power brick will provide enough juice to charge this machine under load is another question.
