I bought this around Christmas time, and have been enjoying it so far. Yes, it's very expensive and no one really needs 280hz, but it's a well designed piece of kit that has improved my gaming (and working) experience.

    Things I like about it:
    - Stunning colours and picture quality. God of War looks incredible for example.
    - Very thin bezels make gaming very immersive
    - When you can run a game at 280fps, it's completely bonkers
    - Gets very bright - brighter than most gaming monitors
    - Elegant stand
    - Auto input switching
    - Headset hanger is useful

    Things I don't like:
    - Smart HDR seems a bit bugged on Windows (gets confused when I mouse over browser tab headers for example) so I've turned it off
    - Viewing angles are fine, but not amazing
    - Black level is just OK, don't expect really deep blacks here

When it comes to gaming performance, on my rig with a 5800X and a 3080 I can run most modern games on max at 100-200fps and some games at 200fps + (Doom Eternal, Overwatch).

Overall, if you have the cash, and particularly if you're upgrading from something much older, I'd suggesting going for it. (edited)

    Really good write up, appreciated

Some of the things you mentioned, such as black levels, are an unfortunate downside of IPS technology unfortunately. I wouldn't say this monitor supports anything close to HDR so a you said, worth turning anything to do with it off.

These better than a dell 4k monitor? I don't use it for games. just after a decent 27inch monitor for home working.

I bought this a few weeks ago and it is excellent for home working.

Where are the 4k monitors at?

I'm trying to decide between a Dell G3223Q and a Philips 32M1N5800. The Dell (not very good) local dimming (and so HDR 600 and FreeSync Premium Pro as a consequence), picture-in-picture, and a really good warranty. The Philips has an extra DisplayPort, is listed as GSync Compatible by Nvidia (as well as FreeSync Premium), speakers.

It seems as though likely times for deals are the end of June, August, and November (black Friday).

This monitor I have it for now longer than a year and its absolutely fantastic. Can't express myself how lovely it is. The issue with me is the Nano IPS is straining my eyes often.
    cowbutt's avatar
I've heard the "NanoIPS causes me eyestrain" complaint before; how does it differ from non-NanoIPS monitors? Too bright? Too blurry? Other?

i wanted this monitor for a while but im only a little short from having enough for the LG c2 42" so i will save a little more and get that

Remember, it depends whether you can run games up to the monitor's refresh rate.

You'll still get 95% of the experience with a 165Hz monitor at less than half the price.

Edit: I said less than half the price because that's what I got mine for 10 months ago. 27" QHD IPS 170Hz (£240 and £214). I didn't realise the market for these monitors has gone mad. Browsing Amazon I'm finding ridiculous prices all-round. Found this Odyssey G5 for 67% of the price which is what I'd consider better than the KOORUIs out there: Samsung Odyssey G5 amazon.co.uk/dp/…KY8 (edited)

Excellent value, very fast and responsive with good colour reproduction. The main negative with this panel is the ips glow/blb.
