LOL! They detect your country!

I bought Vampire The Masquerade from their Sale over the new year for $9.99. Worked out to a little over £5 when they added on a dollar or two sales tax.

I always buy steam games from within steam itself.
Now that broadband exists, a 4gb game takes no time to download. Used to buy the DVD versions of games when my internet was slower.

Voted cold I'm afraid as Steam is a massive rip-off for most games, especially the latest ones. For example...

Orange Box $50 = £29 approx after conversion and + VAT, which is over £10 more expensive than buying a boxed copy from the cheapest online retailers (£18 at ASDA)

Bioshock $55 = £32 approx (£20 Amazon)

COD4 $70!!! = £41 approx (£27 CDWow)

:x

Thanks for that......bit of a cheek, however, as you are obviously a games guru, PC Gears Of War best price? or do you have a favourite comparison site?

I just want a cheap copy of CS : Source :x

The VAT'll kill you.

If you want CS: Source on it's own the best place would probably be Steam. I think they did sell it with CS:CZ once on the shelf but don't know how easy it would be to find. I remember it was in Game.
Obviously you should never get second hand versions because the serial code would have been used.

 thats the problem my m8 got it free when HL : 2 first came out...

so why should i pay :giggle: ( even if he did pay 30 odd quid for HL 2 ) :whistling:

Same here, my receipt says that I paid £34.99 for HL2!!! omg, that was a long time ago. Got really obsessed with CS:S too.

Surely this is a wind-up post by a newbie

Considering it is their first post and they joined this month, it's possible.
Could put it down to a newbie mistake though.

No probs. I tend to use ]find-games as a starting point when pricing up games, shows ]GOW as £18 from ]GAME as the cheapest at the mo.

Probably best off buying a boxed copy of HL2 online (no more than £10) which should include CSS. If you already have HL2, you should then have a spare one on your Steam list you can 'gift' to someone. I bought the Orange Box a few weeks back and sold my extra HL2 for £5.
