Maplin closing as you all know was inevitable due to their overinflated pricing, although I do feel sorry for those that have lost their jobs. I shall predict that the next tech high Street stores to go will be game.

Not only that, people just don't have the disposable income they used to.

Don't believe that for one second. You only have to look at the sales of mobile phones, games consoles, games and cardboard stuff that folds up into a 'piano' etc.. to see that. Not to mention the 'collectible' figures and general tat that is on here every other day. Subscriptions to Prime, Netflix, Sky, etc..
People probably have more disposable income than ever they just like to complain and make out they are hard done by when it suits them.

That is not to say there are not any people worse off, but they were never shopping in Maplins in the first place.

They have come back from the brink before. I have seen a few Game stores pushing their "Belong" experience, which may be what it (and most high street stores) will need to do to survive. The high street can not compete with the internet on price, but they can at least differentiate themselves with experiences.

I cannot believe WHSmith has lasted so long personally, more so their High Street stores as opposed to Airports, Train Stations, Motorway services etc
I’m holding out for the 50% coupled with the 25% flash sale, oh joy!

They're surviving by the skin of their teeth. They have managed to get the Post Office concessions into their stores though, so that helps.
HMV should have gone a long time ago, I don’t know how there still around, Maplin far better and useful store.

So buy a packet of cable ties and some solder. Get £500 to spend next year.
What a waste of space.. Been in local store and even with the discounts its a joke on prices. No wonder they went bust..
Stores now specialising in selling shavers and blenders. Way to go! Clearly trying to monetise space using pop up junk shop SoR stock

My local store closes today with at least 70% off everything. Got a keyboard for £3.90.
