Yes I know, this is going to go extremely cold and it’s RRP however, the new MacBook Pro has a quad core processor and Touch Bar. This was like 1799 pound, so a decent saving. You can also claim a free pair of beats if a student.

Yes 128gb plus a quad core processor is overpriced however it’s a Mac!

Seriously considering returning my MacBook to John Lewis to get this or the New MBA as EDU discount in 10% and Beats Solo/Studio 3 headphones
That’s a picture of a 15”
128gb is just a slap in the face
Why post it if even you don't beleive it's a deal? Not sure what makes you thnk this was 1799.

Baffling.

Just reading up on macrumors about it, base model pro is 1.4ghz! And that touch bar ! I'm not voting either way as I will prob end up buying one when next on offer to replace my 2015 mbr.
If it's all new and the RRP how can it also be:

"This was like 1799 pound"

Makes no sense.
RRP isn't a deal.
This costing £1,168 + a free pair of Beats using student discount is a much better deal than the MacBook 12” deal for £999 from a few weeks back, right?

The main issue here is the 128GB, it's too small. It really restricts what you can do with this machine. My 2015 rMBP (which I'm keeping until it dies) had 128GB and I often found it a huge pain, which is a shame for such an expensive machine.

I've fixed the problem now by fitting a normal NVME SSD (and Sintech adapter) - £70 in total for a 512GB Mac drive. There'll be none of that with the soldered storage so if you go for this be SURE that any point in the next 3-5 years that 90GB usable storage is enough.

Wouldn't a £2.99 or £6.99 iCloud Storage Subscription be cheaper? Using that to store your desktop, documents, photos etc?

£6.99 a month for 12 months is £83, and you'd be paying that every year, whereas £70 for the 512GB drive and it's yours, no more costs. Personally I'd rather just buy an external HDD or even a USB stick than rely on cloud storage.

Great if your guaranteed internet connection everywhere you go. Not so good when you travel.

My macbook pro 13" 2015 is or was going strong till it was seized by her majesties finest. Hopefully I can get this back soon after the case was closed, no further action.
Personally I think this is a good deal, I don’t understand why “Apple” haters bother to vote! Unfortunately I gave up even bothering to post any “fruit” based deals as they are always voted cold!
As usual and same with all apple products, under spec’d and over priced

If they had released this without the touch bar I probably would consider picking one up (the 256GB); with the education discount it's actually not such a bad device when you consider the iris graphics and the quality of what you're getting...

But I just despise using that touch bar. Give me physical function keys every day.
I thought students were supposed to be skint but they all seem to have enough funds to be Appled up!

Went with the Pro and so far liking it, especially the touch bar and Touch ID

Slightly missing the quietness of the fan less MacBook though
