Remember these are only really for media consumption. Web browsing will be an absolute chore with that paltry amount of RAM.

Android (which these tablets really use as the core OS) needs at least 3GB of RAM for smooth operation (web browsing and more). 2GB as a bare minimum.

With 1GB you should only be watching videos on these and playing the odd basic game.
If you can wait until black Friday it should be £25

Under the price there’s a prime savings flag, if you’re a prime member after adding it to the basket a £15 discount should show at checkout
That’s a great offer. Fine going for the cheaper 16gb really since these take micro SD cards, probably marginally cheaper overall to buy a 32 or 64gb card to boost storage.

Even then I'd still get the 8 over the 7 if its £50.
Can this run fortnite?
Never owned an Amazon tablet, sorry for my ignorance but can you surf the net and add apps from Google play? Can you transfer video via flash drive? Are you restricted in any way as opposed to a non Amazon android tablet?
Thinking getting one for my son, for some school work (via internet) some games and cartoons which are on the memory stick. Thanks a lot!

You can get on the internet and use the Amazon app store which is similar to Play store (doesn't have all the same apps though). However, with some Google searching, there are videos/guides to help you get the play store added...takes 10-15 minutes to do.

This is an awful size to surf the web, wish I'd got a larger one at the time... ...now got an old 10" ipad, far, far better

Yes, but it takes two weeks to load.
Yeah literally just use it as a Netflix/amazon video machine, but it’s great for that. Too slow for much else but at this price
Noooo just bought my son one Monday for £60
No idea about the smaller amazon tablets like these. But the larger version works very welll fine for websurfing, videos etc. easy to add the google play store as well.

you have 14 days to return it as your right. So you can get it cheaper this way.
Black frday not long away and amazon always reduce their products.

Contact amazon help and ask if they’ll refund the difference, you have 14 days to return so it will save them the return cost

At this price point you obviously can’t expect anything fantastic in terms of performance and screen resolution but they are absolutely fine for the appropriate use. For example I took one on holiday to Greece recently, not wanting to take my fairly expensive iPad for fear of loss or damage I took one of these for general web browsing with the hotel WiFi, checking emails, watching from a selection of films I’d downloaded onto a 64gb micro SD card in the device for passing the time on the flights, full access to my Kindle account library for reading etc etc and as much as I would try to avoid it, if it does happen to get damaged or worse stolen it’s ultimately no great loss.

Yes very slow but great for hobby room or workshop since disposable at that price. I squeeze extra out of them with custom ROMs min Google apps no bloat. But don't do it if you're not willing to open it - good chance it may be needed now days.

If you can return it via Doddle, it is what it says on the tin. I recently returned an item by taking it with the returns QR code to the local Morrisons. No need to package it up or anything. Great!

I have a fire 7" tablet purchased on Black Friday 4 years ago for £35.

Storage is an issue....8gb it was back then. 16gb as standard now so that should help. Additional memory card doesn't really help as I've found not everything can be moved to the sd card.

Other than that though this is a brilliant tablet. Can't believe people here whinge given the cost.

Use it for web browsing with no issues and also for IPTV. It's had Kodi in the past and currently has a number of Terrarium clones and apps from Fileliinked etc.

1Gb RAM for android just seems to work on the amazon tablets and fire sticks. Any other device and 1gb just isn't enough for android..

For the price this is a great tablet. Don't think it'll be £25 on Black Friday either. £29.99 is the lowest these normally drop to on BF and Prime Day etc.
Are these better than a 2013 Nexus 7?

Doesn't work like that unfortunately. Not everything car be moved to and SD card.
Cheap price, ideal 1st tablet! Then go buy a better one like a Samsung or one from that overpriced fruit named company and claim £50 off for a trade in.
