Wake me up when they increase the screen size on this thing I can't believe how many iterations it's had and yet it still has the same old tiny screen, fingers crossed 2020 will finally be the year,

Ps: good price non the less, voted hot

And don't say it goes towards the cost of these items. The Noble & Barnes Simple Touch was around this price and were brilliant, but Amazon just destroyed any competition. Also with the SimpleTouch you could have your own screensaver, rather an an advert!!

Bit of an over reaction to be honest. The adverts don't affect the use of the Kindle at all. It's literally a random book cover as a screen saver. I don't notice it at all as I've usually pressed a button while picking up the Kindle. I'm more than happy to save £10 for the special offers version as in reality I don't even notice the offers. It's not like a free version of an app where you get a pop up ad every time you turn a page. It literally only appears when the Kindle is not being used!

You do not have to pay for no offer.. buy kindle, keep it for 1-2 months, email or call customer support claiming the ads are annoying and slowing down kindle and they remove ads for free

Try AliExpress. You can buy decent cover for the fraction of the Amazon's price (£4 including delivery).

It's a good item. Happy I didn't spend the extra on a Paperwhite (the dpi is fine; the screen not being flush to the bezel is something you'll never notice or care about). The only drawback I've found is battery life: don't expect to forget about your Kindle for 3 months then pick it up and find it still has 75% charge, like older models; you can still read for a long time between charges, but it'll probably be more like every 2 weeks, rather than 2 months.

I'm very satisfied with mine. I bought it exactly 2 months ago, I've used it regularly and I've charged it twice. I'd be happy to charge it once per week. I've already taken it away for a fortnight without any issues.

This is a brilliant price. I couldn't recommend this enough. Heat added.
Heat. Just ordered one and took out the option to pay £10 per month for 5 months

You're thinking of the Kindle Tablets, they're more expensive and have an amazon version of android which can be quite restrictive. Fun fact you can download the kindle app to any phone or tablet and use them that way for free
Anyway to get rid of the special offers after you buy?
If not I'd strongly recommend getting the NO Offers for £59.99
Just get in touch with Amazon chat. They will take it off for £10 unless you can wangle it for free

Weird question but is the screen on this Kindle easier on the eyes than say, the screen on a phone or laptop?

I want to get into reading books solely on a kindle but already look at screens all-day and was wondering if this screen would be too much on my eyes.

What free books do prime members get? I don't seem to have access to any unless I pay more...would be lovely to be wrong - does anyone know?
How does it compare to the paperwhite?

I have a small crack in mine so will be looking to get another at some point.

I prefer the paperwhite to my kindle fire, as more like reading a normal book as not much screen glare.

Hot! When I bought my paperwhite with adds 2 years ago I spoke with customer service same day. I said I am very disappointed with adds so they were removed free of charge. Honestly I have great experience with Amazon CS because they were helpful dozens of times.
FYI 3% cashback via Topcashback

Is this one from argos or jl has adverts as well? Thanks.
Just bought oasis, guess gonna have to send it back.

I'm new to ebooks.... Is kindle unlimited for 7.99 per month the only option to get ANY book that I want without paying the full price? If so, is it worth it?

Also, I have a lot of physical books that I recently bought from amazon, is there any way of getting them in kindle copy for free (considering that I have paid for the physical copy already).

Very similar. Slightly thicker, slightly heavier than the Paperwhite.
Screen has similar antiglare qualities, including the backlight . Paperwhite has a flat face and is waterproof, this one has a bezel. Great price.

No, Kindle Unlimited doesn't give any book for free. You'll see a 'Kindle Unlimited' icon near the book if you can get it for free.

Nope. You can't get kindle copies of books for free even if you bought the physical one.
Although bigger screen would be more convenient, this is a great deal and I can't say no to it

Much easier, which is why I bought one instead of using my phone or a tablet
I have one and love it. The light is brilliant and I don't think I've ever paid more than 99p for all the books I've got. You see plenty of deals on here and they have sales all the time

I wouldn’t let that put you off. Hotukdeals posts deals on books all the time for free or 99p.

I’m not a bigger reader, but I can’t keep up with how many books I have on my kindle and will have spent less than the cost of an Oasis between my standard kindle and all my books.

also Audible does a lot of half price, three month deals so I’ve got a lot of audiobooks for £4 each.

it’s totally up to you, but I thoroughly recommend this kindle and order a few books you want.

There is Prime, and Kindle Unlimited. There are some prime books but I've not found one that I've wanted to read to be honest. Unlimited has a lot more but not the series I tend to read. So neither are "ANY" book by any means.

Regarding free books, not legally no. You can sync/email your own content to the device but it considers them as "documents" and only supports a couple of formats so some require conversion (which isn't hard, Calibre will do it, or there are online converters). To be honest if you will do this a lot then kindle is not a great option, it is designed to be tightly integrated with the Amazon store.

Also look into what ebook, magazine and audiobook provider your local library provides.

And you can have white text on black background (my favourite feature of the paper white).

Oh and nicer case (rubberised back).
How much is it to remove adverts at later date?
My wife has a paperwhite kindle must be at least 5 years old and she uses it everyday. It transformed her reading experience. Would this be a big improvement on her current one if I got it for her ?

Maybe I should go up to the next model up. I see they now have 3/4G connections and are waterproof.
