Well, obviously its an amazing list of games, a lot of 80 plus, 90 plus rated games, but in reality most Playstation players, including myself, already played most of those titles. What this service lacks in comparison with Gamepass, is NEW stuff, new indie games, new triple A games, coming day 1 or close of release date. Not seeing Sony do anything like that in a near future. Also its sad that they don't want to do anything with PS3 games....cost and difficulty of emulation lol sure....lazy bunch...

Do I pay the monthly difference? Will there be a deal like Ultimate where existing subs are converted if you upgrade?

    From their FAQ:

How can I upgrade my PlayStation Plus membership to PlayStation Plus Extra or PlayStation Plus Premium?

When the new PlayStation Plus membership plans launch, you will be able to upgrade to a plan with more features and benefits. When you upgrade you will be charged a pro-rated fee to level up the remaining time on your existing membership to the desired level. For example, if you purchased a 12-month membership five months ago and have seven months left, you will need to pay a pro-rated upgrade fee to upgrade your remaining seven months to the desired plan level. Then on your next payment date, you will be charged for the standard price of the membership plan level that you upgraded to at your current payment frequency.

Surely there will be deals out there eventually. (edited)

These are all part of the PlayStation Plus “Extra” and “Deluxe” options. The normal PS+ (“essential”) will stay in the usual cycle of 2-3 monthly games.

And yes, they couldn’t have named these tiers more confusingly if they tried I have no idea why they didn’t just go with silver, gold and platinum since all PS users are already accustomed to that levelling structure

These are games included in the "Extra" and "Premium" tiers of the new service, confirmed in an official blog post (see the "get deal" link).

You’ll roll onto the basic Ps Plus package (which is just the same as it is now)

You can choose to upgrade to a higher plan if you wish

    Tazman300016/05/2022 17:54

if you got ps + will that upgrade or is it just ps now?

If you have just a PS+ subscription you get the PS+ Essential which is the same subscription just a new name.

If you have PS Now then your PS Now converts to PS+ Premium.

If you have both PS+ and PS Now subscriptions it gets converted into PS+ Premium for the length of your longest subscription.

I was able to get a 3 month PS Now code as soon as Sony confirmed what would happen to dual subscriptions so my PS+ which expires in September 2024 will conver to PS+ Premium.

Just be mindful Sony have turned off subscription stacking so if you are subscribed to PS+ you can not extend your membership at all. So if you aren't subscribed to PS Now then try and get a 3 month PS Now code especially if you PS+ expires in years.

If I bought a 12 month psplus voucher off amazon for £50 would I get 12 months of the basic package does anyone know please? Or would it be banned because of stacking or something? There is quite a few ps5 games that I would like to play. Thanks in advance.

If your a new PS+ customer you can redeem a 12 month code just fine. Sony have stopped stacking so if you are currently subscribed to PS+ you can't add any more.

Switch over takes place on the 22nd June so if your PS Now is valid after this date and you have subscribed to 12 months PS+ you will get PS+ Premium for the remainder of your PS+ subscription. If your PS Now expires before the switch over then the PS+ will just continue as normal and you won't get these games at all as you will be on the basic package.

When your PS Plus sub expires you can resubscribe with a new code. Sony have blocked stacking of codes temporarily but once your existing sub expires then you are good to go. Any attempt to resubscribe before your old sub expires will throw a warning message.

PS Now is a little different as there are almost no codes available to buy as Sony instructed retailers to remove them from sale some months ago. It MAY be possible to resubsciibe using the App or on the console, again likely to work only after your old sub has expired.

So how much will this service be if we already pay for normal ps plus

Depends on how you pay for PS+ now and whether you pay monthly or pay for pre paid subscriptions.

If you pay monthly then the new prices are.

    PS+ Essential £6.99
    PS+ Extra £10.99
    PS+ Premium £13.99

So just subscribe to the new plan.

If you have pre paid subscription then you need to pay the difference for the duration of your remaining subscription.

    So yearly is

    PS+ Essential £49.99
    PS+ Extra £83.99
    PS+ Premium £99.99

So if for example you had 12 months left on your current PS+ then moving to PS+ Premium would cost you £50. All depends on the length of subscription you have left you need to cover the difference between the 2 subscription services for the entire subscription length you have left.

Whether Sony will allow you to convert without paying and reduce your subscription length inside thats not been confirmed.

Personally I prefer this to free games day 1. That just forces companies to adopt micro-transactions and paid DLCs. Whereas this gives people an opportunity to play exceptional games that they may have missed out on earlier. If you want to play day 1, make an investment, play the game and then resell it. No such thing as a free lunch.
  24. mattlong37051's avatar
Will have to wait and see what the end result is, as a long time PlayStation owner I feel a little underwhelmed purely because I own most of what I would want to play (maybe this isn’t for me) time will tell (edited)

Essentially yes. Demon Souls and Ghost of Tsushima on PS5 is a nice addition but most of the other stuff has been on Now or provided as part of Plus before

That entire PS1 catalogue they could choose from and they offer a dozen games. None of which would rank in the top 100 best PS1 titles.

Take away Forza Horizon, Halo and Gears and Xbox doesn't have much. XGP is mostly indies and third-party stuff, same as the urgent PS Now and upcoming tiers. If Sony ever did day one releases it would automatically make it a superior service to XGP. New games doesn't always mean GREAT games and that's something I feel Xbox struggles with big time.

fanboyism in 2022 pls man...psyconauts, Ori, tunic, flight simulator, and with the amount of studios they have now let's see what the future as to offer. I love both consoles, I have 3 PS1s, 8 PS2s (it's a long story), 3 PS3, 1 PS4 and 2 PS5s....a PSP silver and a fat Vita. And more physical games i can count, thousands. Still i game on Xbox since the 360 and I stand for what I wrote can't be blind. Gamepass gets me excited every time, and this doesn't because I already played most of this titles. I'm not alone on this, most of this games were already been given with plus, and most of them already played by most of the people that care about this service. Also the amazing work Xbox team as made with backcompatibility, updates and enhancements on older games, amazing....Sony doesn't even have their full party lineup on the service and can't emulate one of their consoles. Classic collection is quite sad honestly. (edited)
