ALPKIT BruKit , jetboil type gas Camping stove & pan £35 @ ALPKIT

Found 13th May 2015
Thought this might be useful now we're coming up to camping/festival season.
TLDR: it's a very efficient stove&pan that's also very light&compact, all fits inside the pan.

This is the cheapest heat exchanger type gas stove available and therefore a deal in my opinion

Similar spec jetboil is around £90+
Seems to work just as well but for a fraction of the price

- holds 1L of water
- boils 0.5 L in around 2 minutes using approx 6g of gas.
- includes the neoprene pot cosy
- next 250 orders get some special legs to fit on larger gas cans.
- small 230g gas canister can fit inside it all too.

£35

If you can find a jetboil type stove for less then please let me know.

It's a deal because for the type of product , it is the cheapest around.

I love alpkit gear, the price is favourable, as is the typical quality & after service (shoudl you need it)
But in the past when posting an alp-kit deal mods seem to take it down due to background (senseless) not having enough seller sales history or something daft..

Hopefully we are over that now! Alpkit are well established as a company, their range if kit is burgeoning, & prices for titanium (ultralight gramme saving kit is very good) for instance.

In response to Crawleyelectronics, it is a deal, it might be their rrp, but compare their goods side by side to other manufacturers of comparable kit & you are getting a stonking deal from a very responsive uk based company.

If say you aer browsing a jetboil item (amazon uk) then something like the jetboil zip will set you back £61, or the flash around £79.

Whilst all offer different things in terms of tech spec etc, the alpkit unit is a tour-de-force & kicks ass!

& for a while, you get a decent size gas cannister into the bargain (which fits snugly)
Fast delivery included. All orders packed same day if ordered before 2pm Mon - Fri.
Price inclusive of P+P

Not bad, not bad at all!

They have always been £35. Why is this a HOT deal?

Like I already said, if you can find a jetboil type stove for less, please show me where.

While this may only be available at Alpkit, for its product type it is the cheapest and not a lot of people know about it so posted for awareness.

When PS4/XBOX came out, people posted deals at RRP of places that had them in stock.
Regularly chinese mobile phone 'deals' get posted when phones are sold at RRP, but the deal = the SPECS for PRICE

If you were in the market for pingpong balls and brand A sold 10 for £1 but brand B sold 20 for £1.
Brand B would be a deal.

This is the cheapest heat exchanger type gas stove available and therefore a deal in my opinion

This is cheap for what it does, and anyone in the market for a jetboil will probably appreciate seeing this. Its like comparing apples and androids.

Good deal, quality item for a good price.

alpkit is quality, and a very good price for one of these

heat from me. I'd love a jetboil but there too expensive but seeing this at this price is great. Thank You

RRP

Cheap copy of a product that is a copy of another stove.

Gives out less heat, uses more gas, performs worse at low temperatures (below 15 degrees, I.e. uk summer), less durable, no spares available, no manufacturer backup.

Please explain how this is deal without saying "its cheaper than a jetboil"

Oh, and I know Alpkit are incredibly good at after sales, but by manufacturer backup, I mean spares available to buy after a couple of years, or they will fix it for a fee, etc.

Before I say anything can you please show me your Deal Police badge

As someone who works for an outdoor company, I'll admit I'm biased against the likes of Mike Ashley, Karrimor, and in some cases (though not all), Alpkit.

My point is this is a cheap product, reflected by its price, and it is unfair to compare it with the most well known offering that retails for 3 times as much.

To be fair, I did ask you a question. Probably not the friendliest tone, but I did say please ;-)

I don't have a Deal Police badge, but I do have a mountain leader badge in a drawer somewhere...

Many of the YouTube videos and forum reviews do compare the two though and show it performs just as well. Brukit was 9 seconds slower if I remember right.

As for spares, maybe alpkit won't be as good, but again the reviews suggest the brukit is robust.

Ultimately, if it breaks you could still buy another brukit and still have money left over for a beer compared to the cost of 1 x jetboil.

Plus for festivals, if someone stole my jetboil or drunkard collapsed into tent and squashed it. I'd be **** off.
£35 is less of a concern!

Nice find. Ordered. Thanks,

I can also recommend alpkits pipedream 600 down sleeping bags (although I think they've changed the model). I couldn't find better at anything near their prices. And their breathable waterproof bivvy bag at £30 is a steal compared to the competition. And I've no interest other than a (warm down to -10C) user -:)

Its the RRP but have one myself and its a great stove.

Love Alpkit equipment!

Why all the bickering ?

Everyone loves beaching!

For somebody who works for an outoor company you dont know much.
Alpkit are highly regarded in hiking/climbing groups and they make quality gear.

Bring on the microadventures

Heat from me, I had never heard of this brand and they have a bunch of things I was looking for, much cheaper than any alternative I knew, thanks OP!

Heat added, I don't need the item but you can't beat Alpkit for price/quality

Not a deal always been this price, not been around as long as jetboils I would wait untill they have been tried tested and reviewed.

It's worth noting that the BruKit appears to be a rebranded fire maple X1 which retails on ultralight outdoor gear for £69.99

Have heat. Good deal for an item that, although at RRP, is cheaper than the nearest competitor.

I've met Nick who runs Alpkit numerous times over the last 10 years or so, and for the most part, I agree with everything they do. But they know their market, and they are not pretending to be anything they're not. They are a value brand, offering fairly decent kit, direct to the consumer.
They are not a multimillion pound company with a massive research budget, and a ton of patents behind them I.e. Jetboil.

I dont know what groups you're looking at, but google Western Mountaineering, MSR Reactor, or Hilleberg for a comparison brand.

Alpkit don't make this, that's half the point. its a cheap Chinese stove at rrp.

Its a good stove for £35. But its not a £100 stove, cheap.

I'd rather mess around with a small Kelly kettle. no need to carry fuel blah blah blah mess around with a fire yay.

Great timing. My daughter mentioned that someone had a Jetboil equivalent for £35 on her Duke of Edinburgh, but didn't know the make. I was aware of Alpkit but didn't realise they sold these. have been looking for a cheaper version for cycle touring/camping and also keeping in the car. Many thanks.

I'm referring to the link 'threaper101' posted (which no longer works by the way. ) on his link from another supplier you had to pay postage.

There is NO postage on the alpkit BruKit.

Ok, good find OP..Cheers!

I have this bought it around Christmas time and its good.

Can anyone comment on using this with other pans? It looks like it will support pans bigger than the outer ring - how big is that? Thanks.

I asked alpkit about this and they said they don't recommend using it with normal pans.
I guess this is really designed for the fastest way to boil water ( or meals in a bag like "look what we found" )

I presume normal pans would block the air flow if you put a pan directly on top.
On YouTube a guy just added a bit of metal for clearance with normal pans.
Though it may make it top heavy and fall over?

I've been looking at other pots though and fire maple seem to do this which might be compatible?
