The second series, which doesn't follow the book is a real disappointment. Its clear the budget is smaller as the scope and ambition is no where near the level of the first. Fewer locations, some repeated from the first series to save money. A much less interesting storyline with less a less diverse cast, characters that less fleshed out and therefore you're less invested in them. Such a shame after a brilliant first series that did the book some justice.

I gave up on the second one after two episodes. First one was brilliant.
I got through the second season but it gets worse as it goes through, the ending was a real disappointment. Loved the concept and setting in the first season

I gave up after about 5 episodes. Really wanted to like it, but the fellow they chose for Kovacs is not a patch on the original; not of it is and it's very obvious. Only Po kept me interested and what they were doing with him was just padding for the sake of keeping him in the show because the second series clearly needs him.
The first season was outstanding, with the feel of cyberpunk world in it. The second season is at most mediocre with poor play from main character, lack of new ideas and really uninteresting storyline. What a shame(annoyed)
TV show... Not seen the 2nd but loved the first...oh dear am out off watching the 2nd season now.
On topic..the deal.. the books...are they any good?
isnt the 2nd season based around the 3rd book?
Has anybody read this graphic novel from last year, does it do any justice to the trilogy?

The second season is Shakespeare compared to the Anime.
