have you seen any reports by people that went last weekend?

Just wondered how busy it was and whether they thought it was good value.

Hotel Time

Fri

Captain Williams Magic Shows Alton Towers 7:30-8pm
Baby Bear Meet & Greet Splash Landings 7:30-8pm
Pirate Fancy Dress (inc Competition) Splash Landings 8:30-11pm
Live Singer Alton Towers 9:15 –10:45pm

Sat

Treasure Hunt Waterpark 12,2 & 4pm
Hair Braiding (a quid) Waterpark 12:30pm 2:30pm
Design a Caribbean T Shirt (free T shirt) Splash Landings 3pm-6pm
(inc free T shirt)
Caribbean Beach Party Waterpark 7pm-11pm
(Flower Garlands, Steel band, Cap Bill Magic Show
Limbo/Hula & realistic dodgy holiday disco with
Black lace, do the congo etc)

Went to waterpark 3 times, Friday (more lifeguards than punters), Saturday busy, Sunday manic (think officially it’s a 2 day waterpark pass but wasn’t challenged).

Top Tips if you have young kids consider changing to Splash Landings (It’s free just ring Alton Towers direct) as it’s more kiddy friendly and closer to most of the events. Take pirate outfits for the kids and the loudest shirt in your collection for the Beach Party.

Thanks T-J

I can't do the 25th, but last time they advertised the 1st Feb a short while after the other dates. Does anyone know if you can get an email alert from Last Minute ?

Have been to Splash Landings and Cariba Creek before - highly recommended.

Any idea which hotel is the nicer one, im booked in at the Alton towers hotel, theres still rooms left at splash landings and was thinking about phoning up and changing hotels ?

Alton Towers is a bigger rooms and two seperate kids beds and has been recently refurbed new carpet etc.

Splash landings is in need of a bit of a refurb an the rooms are smaller an the kids go in a bunk bed. So why go to Splash?

It more fun for younger kids (captain pugwash in the lifts in splash compared flashing lights and music which scared my youngest). The recepetion has a moris minor with a fish tank, it has a bigger games area than Alton and with small ones it less walking given most activitires take place at Splash.

Alton Towers is a nice a tradional hotel with a few quirks, Splash is a very quirkly themed hotel.

Your choice!

even if they do cancel it they will give you another date as i assume they will probably keep putting this offer on, its been on about 5 times now. .

I was booked up for the 1st feb, got a call a few days later saying its been overbooked and gave me 3 other dates to choose from, now i'm going this friday instead which was a date that was supposed to have been sold out. also you should phone Alton towers up to confirm your booking, thats what i did on: 08704 58 51 46

It says "Enjoy a taste of the Caribbean in our restaurants."

Does that mean any food is included in the price, or do I have to shell out £16 each for the buffet again??

Just checked and Fri 29th Feb is looking available again! I think it's being added to people's baskets and then removed so it will sometimes show as available or not...

Going on the 25th now anyway, prob nothing happening though!

PS - thanks for all your help diamond4736, enjoy it this weekend!

No unfortunately dinner isn't included in the price and its going to cost me a fortune, have a good time on the 25th

7th March is available again ????

So does this include your stay in a hotel i take it then yeah? Ignore that just checked the bottem bit, so is this hotel actually in the park somewhere or is it just outside? I take it park entry will be needed as well from the gates?

Original Poster

The main park isn't open yet so you wont be able to have access to that, but you have unlimited access to the indoor water park, i've never been but have been told its like center parcs, plus buffet breakfast is included and evening entertainment.

Anyone who wants to save on their evening meals, I can thoroughly recommend "Ye old star pub" in Cotton (out of the gates turn right and carry on until you come to a crossroads and it is on the left of the crossroads didn't measure how far but I estimate approx 3 miles) We went this weekend and they do a fish, chips & peas supper plus a pint, glass of wine or soft drink for £5 on a Friday night. The main menu has main courses ranging from £7 -£15 if you don't fancy fish and chips. We paid £55 for 8 of us on Friday night drinks included, the food was lovely proper homemade chips etc although they were quite busy but if you wanted to book the phone Number is 01538 702489 and for those with sat nav the postcode is ST10 3DW they areright on the crossroads.
The weekend was fab if anyone wants any more info PM me.

The weekend was great, customer service in the buffet restaurant was rubbish, they only seem interested if you have a birthday as they get the whole restaurant singing happy birthday to you, on friday and saturday we were completely ignored in there, no waiter or waitress came over to us at all to see if we wanted drinks and to get the bill was just as difficult, my son had to chase the waiter around for about 5 minutes. on Saturday we had enough and just walked out without paying, nobody even noticed, serves them right, saved us £42.

Thanks for the tips.

What are the rooms like - i.e, the layout? We have two small boys and I'm not really sure what to expect at bedtime!

Original Poster

in the alton towers hotel theres a double bed and a single bed with a pull out bed underneath, the view was lovely of the waterfall, i think splash landings is bunkbeds for the kids and the room is smaller.
