Design
The new sport smartwatch from Amazfit is here, the Amazfit Stratos 3, said to be the successor to the Amazfit Stratos which is so far successful in terms of sales with sport features and premium look. The Amazfit Stratos 3 has still that Stratos feel with its carbon fiber casing. It is available in standard and elite edition (titanium) with a better craftsmanship and material. If you are going to take a look at, the stratos 3 design it has a mixed of Stratos and GTR design.

Display
Unlike the GTR, Verge and Nexo, the smartwatch is back to reflective display similar to Stratos and Pace which has an always on display, goodgraphic resolution, viewable whether its indoor or outdoors and with low power consumption. But unlike the Stratos and Pace, the Stratos 3 has a full circle display, a 1.34” inch full color with better resolution and brightness 320 x 300 pixels. The display is protected by AF coated Corning Gorilla 3 generation tempered glass (Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3) and AF + AR coated sapphire (Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3Elite Edition).

Under the Hood
Running the Amazfit OS, the smartwatch is loaded with sensors such as BioTracker TM PPG Bio-Tracking Optical, Sensor, Accelerometer, GyroAir pressure sensor and Geomagnetic sensor.

it has 4G GB of storage space but the user available space is about 1.9GB and with 512MB LPDDR3. Other functions included GPS, GLONASS, BEIDOU and GALILEO for accurate positioning. There is also an NFC support but its function works in China only as of now, mostly on the aspect of transportation, connectivity includes Bluetooth 4.2 BLE 5.0WiFi 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n.

Features
One of the main features is the Dual Core, dual system for great performance and longer battery life, another one is the 19 sports mode loaded to it. It has intelligent sport tracking with FIRSTBEAT algorithm supporting precise tracking of your activity. Multi-sport mode includes running, cycling, walking,, skipping rope, swimming indoors, swimming outdoors, hiking, treadmill, tennis, soccer and more.

With its onboard storage, you can store up to 350 songs and with its Bluetooth connectivity, you can listen to the music with your Bluetooth headphones, you can listen to your favourite song while working out.

Battery
300mAh lithium ion polymer battery with battery life of 7 days in Smart mode , Ultra mode is about 14 days, and when GPS is activated it will last up to 35 hours.

------
I've had the Stratos 2 since it released and for the price I'm hugely impressed. Plus it doesn't look like a sports watch so you can wear it all the time

Even better then The battery life improvement, better screen, better GPS, better sensors & the magnet charger are a huge step up from the Stratos 2. I hated the Stratos 2 charger since you had to force it into the clips, which is a stupid design. This new magnet charger for the Stratos 3 looks miles better.

I'm torn between this and the GTR, better battery life on the GTR, but I think this one looks better and does more.

Edit, how big is it 34mm?

It says case diameter is 48.6mm, so slightly larger than the 47mm GTR. I like the overall look of the GTR but I don't think it has an always on display like the Stratos. I turn backlight off on the Stratos 2 and find the display easy to read except in dark conditions, but pressing a button turns the backlight on. There is a "turn on when raised" function but I find that just drains the battery for no huge gain.

Edit: The GTR has a better resolution screen (47mm @ 454x454, 42mm @ 390x2390) which is AMOLED, the Stratos 3 is Transflective TFT @ 320x320.

I love my fossil explorer I got from hukd (soo nice looking) but the 1 day battery life is killing me. I have started to not use it cos can't be arsed to charge every day and just want a nice looking watch with notifications.

Thinking about one of these too. Just need a week battery
Ticwatch pro is £15 more from amazon, with warranty, next day delivery etc
Decent alternative

When not using fitness modes I easily get 5 days from the Stratos 2, the Stratos 3 has two different modes of which one of them claims 14 days with always on heart rate but I suspect it meant off since the wording is the same between the modes.

Spec sheet here: en.amazfit.com/str…tml

Smart mode: 7 days

Factory default settings and heart rate always on. Per day: Receive 150 messages, lift the wrist to see the time 30 times, 30 minutes of outdoor sports, 5 minutes of other operations.

Ultra endurance mode: 14 days

Factory default settings and heart rate always on. Per day: Receive 150 messages, lift the wrist to see the time 30 times, 30 minutes of outdoor sports, 5 minutes of other operations.

It's 5ATM rated, which I think it can go up to 50m deep for 10 minutes. My Stratos 2 has been up numerous mountains in torrential rain whilst I was dripping in sweat due to speed-walking to get in to shape for 3 peaks challenge. The only issue I found was blocking the pressure sensor hole and giving incorrect height readings, the GPS recording & everything else seemed fine.

I had a stratos 2 until a couple weeks ago......

I had swam in it, sweat buckets down the gym with it and walked in rain etc and all good........ And then put it on to swim with a couple weeks ago and it started vibrating like crazy and the screen going all over the place so I turned it off, took it off and put it in my bag never to turn back on again. the little bit of glass covering the HR sensor had seemingly come off at some point so I presume lost its waterproof seal there and shorted, in the bin.

Had been all fine up until then, no idea when or how the glass came off, one of those things.

Agree with the above comment about the PITA charging for the 2, useless connector

The GTR has an optional always on display, (one digital or one analogue) but it murders the battery life - 5 days I reckon, On the other hand, that AMOLED display is gorgeous.
AMOLED screens look great but I'd rather have an always-on display that lasts a week between charges (Garmin owner here).
