Anybody normal paying this much for a big screen TV needs their head …Anybody normal paying this much for a big screen TV needs their head examining. Not voting cold as possibly a decent saving.

Yaaawn What's "normal" anyway? I think i'm quite "normal" and payed £2300 for a 50" plasma screen around 10 years ago!

I wouldn't ever buy another Sony, I bought arguably the best TV their X900 …I wouldn't ever buy another Sony, I bought arguably the best TV their X900 4 years ago for more then the price for this TV, the smart part is absolutely pathetic no ITV player no 4 on demand, and no plans for an update to put them on there's lots of apps all useless! Sony must be getting a right backhander to put them on their TV's my advice is check that the TV you buy has fundamental apps installed, because Sony only put apps on from the highest bidder....

Only an idiot would buy a TV like this for anything other than the image quality, built in smart features and even the sound are far better handled by third party devices. I'd be more than happy if they just started selling dumb av monitors again and charged less.

Surely what makes a good TV is image quality: just purchase an Amazon Fire Stick if it’s short of apps

When you pay 3k for a TV it should be all singing and dancing, you wouldn't buy a top of the range Mercedes and then go to halfords for a satnav would you?

Good price for the 65" version
Thanks that's a great saving ..not the pound yellow sticker ..great
can't afford on a pension , as half the year earnings , but hot..
Terrific price for arguably the best current TV, if my Panasonic ZT wasn't still going strong it's where I'd put my money.
Been looking at this for a while .. there’s a new version out in March so these will fall even further in next few weeks .. good findthough

Very good price for this TV, the Sony A1 will still be the flagship TV for Sony from this years new set announcements. Voted hot
Maybe you should add that this deal is for 65" TV.

    Folks are easily confused

Great price though, and a stunning looking TV

Holding on is wise move, all the old Oled screens have taken a bit hit in price VS use, since about middle of nov, hence all the great Oled deal prices, once the Sony 85f#90f's hit the market and the Qled Samsung models start hitting sub 1k, going to be a massive choice at value for money VS spec buyers

The Qled/Sled/Uled new range of panels from various brands & the new Samsung high nit panel models, will also force the banana's price of Oled down as well, which is only a good thing!

They aren’t replacing this model, the A1 will be current for whole of next year, they are just bringing in a cheaper OLED model to sit below this one, great price for this tv

I would - inbuilt satnav's are notoriously out of date and hard to update.

I must be an idiot then, cos the TV I bought doesn't have the features or the picture quality of my son's Samsung which was half the price, Sony TV's are not a patch on Samsung end of story, overpriced and not worthy of the hype!!!

John Lewis have price matched me,
Buy on picture / sound performance but do not buy any TV or blu ray player based on what smart features it has, it's an almost certainty that most of the smart features will stop working or not be supported after a couple of years. There's absolutely no incentive (other than good customer support) for a manufacturer to continue to support a product that's no longer made, ie after 12 to 18 months.

That's the cold hard truth unfortunately, whether you pay £2500 or £250 for a smart TV. Consider the smart apps a momentary bonus.

Don't entirely agree with your philosophy there, 12 months after I bought my Sony TV they started putting itv player on there lower end TV's sub £1000 yet still refused to update their higher end TV's, despite frequent requests (some customer service) meanwhile my parents TV a Panasonic has received numerous updates over a 4 year period, I bought my TV not just based on picture/sound quality I thought I was buying an all rounder how wrong was I, my thoughts are based on experience I have a Sony TV and can pass comment based on that fact, people expressing views can't judge fully until they actually test drive that equipment....

Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with the way manufacturers quickly drop support of their products, I've had it happen to me on a few occasions and it sucks balls. But I learnt the hard way that any new TV or device with added smart features should not be considered something that will last the life of the TV itself. Smart apps will usually fail far quicker than the electronics of the product they reside in.

So my next TV will be based on picture quality first and foremost and any smart features are considered a bonus that might work or might not....then when they fail I won't get too annoyed.

It's similar with cars that have smarter features built in, phone apps, clever sat navs and such like... they'll all soon be dated long before the car is scrapped and unusable.

Looks like they are open to customers by appointment:

    Address:
    Hi-Fi Confidential Ltd
    Unit 7, Common Wealth Buildings,
    Woolwich Church Street,
London SE18 5NS (Please Visit by Appointment)

So you could try arguing that they are also a bricks and mortar store where you can go visit them...worth a try
I would have no issues purchasing from Hifi Confidential as I have used them many times over the years.

If in doubt people can review their accounts on companies house.

I am seriously considering buying this, currently have 2 55X8509c and a W6

Do i pull the trigger or wait?

So many great reviews about this set

Not bothered also about the smart apps crap, currently rocking a TBS6903/1.5m Gibertini and the 4:2:2 feeds will look stunning on this
I’m gonna try and call Richer Sounds telesales tomorrow and get them to Price Beat, checked their terms and they should beat by £50.

Yes but when you buy a car with all those features they work in the first instance, unlike Sony where there missing in the first instance..,

Well can't argue with that....missing features from the start is not good especially when they promise them in a future update.

Software is a pain in the arse for sure!

What do you need hdmi 2.1 for? No other TVs this year will have hdmi 2.1 so it's not exactly a big deal
Great price for this TV, hoping for a similar offer on the 55" as this is too big for me. Worth noting this seems to come with a free wall bracket and HDMI cable. Hot!
