Amazing price for this highly specced Laptop. The only things I can fault are the integrated graphics and the weight, but you won't find any Core 2 Duo system comparable to this for such a low price anywhere, trust me.

Excellent deal poppy10.

One slight flaw is the 2400 mAh battery.. approx the capacity of a half decent AA battery :P
will be terrible battery life.
amazing spec other than that. should sell out fast

Vista home premium upgrade included (post and packing charges apply at time of redemption)

It's a belter, except for battery and graphics.

Heat and Rep Added.

Quidco 4%!!!!! £21.60 More Off!

:thumbsup:Looks like a bargain to me

Bargain price, the only downer is its a 'geteway'.

There may be an error with the battery spec - I think it's actually a 4800mAh one.

There's a review of this notebooks' little brother, the MX6923b here:

itreviews.co.uk/har…htm

It states that it has a 4800mAh battery, and praises it's battery life of 3 hours, even though Gateway's website lists both models as having a 2400mAh battery.

Thanks for the update poppy10...I've read some good reviews about gateway but cannot remember where...must trawl my recent PC mags.

Gateway did have a terrible reputation in the late 90s/ early 00s, ended up almost bankrupt and actually stopped selling consumer products for a while, but since they re-entered the market, they have been known for making decent products.

Hmm 3 hours battery life is OK but isn't great.

Would give you time to watch a film or do a couple hours of work (bear in mind that battery life will be much less when using WiFi).

Therefore not the most "portable" of laptops, but not quite a "desktop replacement". Personally for that price & spec I'd rather spend a little bit more and get a model which gives you better battery life.

Maybe someone knows if there's a high capacity replacement battery for this laptop out there somewhere?

toysrus.co.uk/Pro…960

yes it's £699 here and states a 4 hour battery life...so apart from graphics it's a steal at play.com

Bought a new laptop last week otherwise this would have been good for me.

Bought a new laptop last week otherwise this would have been good for me.

You can probably return it (assuming you bought it online) if you prefer this one!

Just the graphics that let it down a bit...

Excellent price for the spec though Thanks for the pointer poppy10 ;-)

Toysrus are pretty optimistic with their estimates.. they must assume wordprocessing in notepad without anything else running :P
More realistically 2 -2 half with just basic browsing.

yes excellent spec for the price - excellent find!

Can any games be played on this, or is it really only for work applications?

great deal here!

Thanks poppy10 !

This is pretty much the spec I wanted for a laptop, except for the battery and graphics which i'd prefer a bit better.

I'm likely to order this, but I may just give Dell a call to see if they can get anywhere close with a similar spec laptop plus a bigger battery

Thanks again

Ben

quidco only comes up as 2% not 4% as cuthroat_jake mentioned is that right?

Slightly concerning that the 2400mah is actually listed as that on the gateway site. Though it seems to have got a gold award from what laptop according to the site.

Depends what kind of games you mean. It will cope with most older games (2 years+), and with the likes of Fifa2007/PES6/Sims 2/Need For Speed no problem. It will struggle with newer FPSs such as FarCry/FEAR which really tax the graphics card, but it should still be able to play them with the settings turned right down.

I can confirm it is tracking as £21.60 cashback (4%), even though it says 2% on quidco

Thanks poppy10, seems like a bargain!

would be good if someone had a copy of edition of What Laptop so that we can know what the review said as it isn't listed on there site.

I have 2 Gateway machines one that must be over 10 years old (Win 95) and another that is about 8 years old (Win 98) - where has this come from? - and apart from losing a monitor about 6 weeks ago, I've never had a serious problem with either - and customer support has always been first class.

thanks for this deal poppy10

Billy bargain mate, nice find.

As for the battery, can you not purchase an aftermarket battery and stick it in your laptop bag fully charged, this way you will have 2 batteries giving you up to 8 hours of usage if not doing heavy tasks.

At this price it would still be a great deal if it cost you another £50 or so for a second battery. (Don't ask on prices for batteries as I do not have a laptop).

Wow that is an awesome price... I really want one but don't have the cash at the mo

will this sell out quickly?

morales

will this sell out quickly?

Well bargain laptops usually do...particularly at play.com

do i have a day or two?

does this have a warrantee btw? i don't see any of that information on the page

Agree + vga is a bit of let down.

does it come with windows vista upgrade???

Such a cock tease as well.

Reads like a dream then let down by honking graphics spec and questionable battery. Great for a n00b or non gamer though, so kudos for that.

if you are looking for some reviews then just do a search on the 'Gateway NX570X' which looks like the US version of the same laptop.

If you were to buy the same spec from Gateway direct in the US it would cost you $1317 which equates to around 680 quid.

now im stuck, i need a laptop now i found this one can any one suggest one, this one or the accer one from comet, or the lenovo one or another accer here is the link laptopsdirect.co.uk/Ace…asp

]http//uk…tmlThis page tells you about vista upgrade.

"To ensure that our customers have the latest technology, Gateway is offering an Express Upgrade to Windows Vista™ Program. This program allows customers who purchase ]a qualifying Vista Capable PC to receive an upgrade (Upgrade fees and Shipping and handling charges may apply) from Windows XP to the comparable version of Windows Vista:"

]http//uk…tml This page shows that the laptop does qualify. However nowhere does it say how much they will charge for the upgrade.

sarbjeet, This computer is a very good deal, the only question mark is on the battery life (the graphics card ain't great, but it is ok and quite common in lower end laptops)

ive been looking for a good laptop for 3 months now and now i cant wait anymore so can anyone suggest one
