Virgin Media sent me a booster pack last week, incredible and free

They do work great, until I plug my phone to quick charge on same circuit or when the treadmill is in use. These power plugs are subject to your internal wiring too. I was given them free as I was on top package and solved nearly all my probs

I bought these m5 and they work great from one end of the extension to far corner of main house, seemless wifi everywhere and I have solid walls throughout

What was in the booster pack? How did you get it? Was it a deco or powerline?

I called them up a few times over the period of 3 months as I was experiencing terrible connection upstairs in my office, the router is downstairs in the living room and most of the walls in my house are solid. I explained that I was considering leaving as my contract was up in 2 months, the customer service advisor transferred me to the retentions team, who offered to set up a call with a tech expert the following day. The tech expert called and offered to send out a booster pack containing two wall plugs, one that connects to the router downstairs and another that I plug in to the wall in my office. I am currently on 150mb service with Virgin and prior to installing the booster, my max speed in the office was 18mbps download at best. After installing, the download speed increased to 120mbps minimum. I’ve used it for a week and what a difference.

Agreed, the tech advisor did mention the results are subject to internal wiring, fortunately I had my house re-wired entirely when I purchased it 3 years ago.

Why didn't you instal ethernet cabling at the same time?
These have been this price for quite a while now. I think it's their normal price.
I've had these and for my house they weren't very reliable. The controls on offer were limited at the time too, firmware may have improved since. Pity all config was cloud based, making actual changes when outages a bit problematic, for me anyway.

Having since moved on and upgraded to Ubiquiti kit I can'#t recommend these. For similar pricing, the BT kit gets good reviews.

Good point, didn’t think of it at the time.
Bought last night, arrived this afternoon and installed in 30 minutes. 3 gamer kids are happy and the house has no dead zones, a single follow-me wireless network. The mobile app gives a good amount of control over who gets blacklisted as well as diagnostic reporting so I can prove who has been slurping on my connection. I now have rock-solid wireless access for all devices (usually 20+ connected) and no more moaning. The Virgin 350 fibre is holding up well with the additional kit - the coverage of a single unit is far better than the Virgin router. Highly recommended.
