amazing price.

Will this work with xbox 360? not had any luck with my previous 2 pen drives.

better off going for the jetflash 600 32meg read 19 write or was it 18
either way fast

The 600's will read at UP TO 32 mps...and write at UP TO 10 mps..... whichever you choose...stonking value, great free d/l's from the Transcend site....just ignore the trolls like alasrati who criticise performance without justification.... good deal.

I remember that there were alot of fake Kingston USB memory sticks from China. Presuambly, this doesn't affect Transcend? Is 7dayshop reputable?

Still purdy slow considering I have a 2 year old Integral 8Gb which does 15Mb/s write (_;)

used them for years with no problems, delivery bit slow ..about 5 days.

watch out for this in the T & C s, often you dont get the retail pack which could include extras like some software.

• Images of items offered for sale are for illustrative purposes only.
• To achieve the very best selling prices, some products are split from manufacturers packs or multi-packs, and therefore may not arrive boxed.

pretty sure alasrati supplied justification for criticism... ITS TOO SLOW FOR THEM.
good price for what it is, perhaps theres one faster for a couple of quid more eh and people would value that speed.

Beat me to posting this deal. Well done OP heat added.

*Reasonable* price for what it is, but toooooooo slow by far.
I *know* that this is not comparable (i.e. costs significantly more) but for those wanting 16Gb, consider this for £22:
amazon.co.uk/Tra…_pt
Write Speed: 18MB/s
Read Speed: 32MB/s

It is slow, fact. Lifetime warranty doesn't mean your lifetime either X)

Looks hot to me. Cheapest currently available no-name drives are only a pound less than this (7 Day Shop's own brand) and have a measured write speed of under 4MB/sec and most 'cheap' ones are rated at 'up to 5MB/s write & 10MB/s read'. This is both branded and faster than that. Voted hot!

Look at this one:

hotukdeals.com/dea…673

Same price, unbranded, far poorer performance.

Uh yeah, I checked the Bytestor Dataferry which I just ordered from Amazon for £16. At least 4 Amazon reviewers have benchmarked the speeds of that drive at around 13-15MB/s write and 28-30MB/s read. It costs £2 more than this one though, but it's roughly twice as fast. So to me that doesn't make this a hot deal. I haven't voted cold either though so don't whine people.

When you get your Dataferry, would you mind running a quick benchmark on it with CrystalDiskMark (free)? Also if you could, post a screenshot of the results. Lots of people have made claims of the Dataferry's speed but I'd like to see hard proof of it.

Thanks.

Love the gratuitous use of the word fact.

Fact is speed is utterly irrelevant to an awful lot of people hence quite rightly this is getting hot.

whether a fact or not is relevant doesn't stop it being a fact

Thanks a lot for that, so the Dataferry does seem to live up to it's claims. Could you do a test size of 100mb as well? I'd appreciate it.

Sounds perfect for plugging into a TV with a USB interface to do the odd bit of Freeview timeshifting.

babymanor

can you benchmark how quick you can crapor talk it

Eh? What's your problem babymanor?

Alasrati is just stating the Transcend JetFlash is a little slow and that a Bytestor Dataferry is faster (which he has proven) and possibly a better deal because of it.

problem is people work hard to find deals then people who dont like to pick holes when was your last deal posted

IMO Most respondants are just trying to help others come to whatever is the best decision for them. That's whay a) I posted a response and b) are revisiting the thread to see what others are saying.
This deal is OK if you want a cheap stick and don't care about performance.

Edited by: "simonspeakeasy" 3rd Nov 2010

Thanks again for the 2nd lot of results, Alasrati. I'm probably going to buy the Dataferry as I want a fast USB stick.

Just a quick question, is your Dataferry formatted in FAT32 or NTFS?

babymanor

I don't think anyone is complaining about your deal, far from it considering it currently has 608° heat. However, if you look at things from a price over performance perspective, the Dataferry looks to be better value for money.
Edited by: "crackerbear" 3rd Nov 2010

These results are FAT32. I did one test of 1000MB, 5 passes NTFS and the write performance dropped by 1MB/s.

Thanks for all your info

I was looking at the Corsair Flash Voyager GT 16GB for £21.99, but as stated earlier, I think the price/performance of the Dataferry just pips it. I just hope it lasts as long

babymanor

F off to you to alassierati and get a life

someones touchy coz they want a lot of heat for their own deal. lol

Banned

Alasrati, thanks for giving people info on the speeds and other options for deals. Babymanor obviously doesn't allow for anyone else having a different opinion. But please don't stoop to his childishness and be rude.

And for babymanor, I personally need more performance as I use mine as boot drives for tech support. But for many people performance doesn't matter, hence why people have voted this deal up.

P.S. My old OCZ Rally2 2GB is twice as fast as this one. The reason is that it's a dual-channel device, as the Dataferry probably is. Most are only single-channel to reduce cost.

Original Poster

listen i dont mean to step on anyones toes all im saying is people work hard to find other people bargains...... yes of course everyone has opinions but they can be put in a diff way. okay so alasrati
wants a speedier flashdrive so rather then kill everyone with jargon why not say what the diff in time say to read/write for say a 50mb file between flashdrives so as others who are not so well informed can make their own minds up.

the thing with this site is whenever a deal is posted, instead of people trying to find the SAME item cheaper they find a different product altogether and at a different price. i dont see the point doing that in a thread somebody has made. if you have a better item then its a different deal and should be posted as so rather than hijacking another deal
i could now go and find another flash drive thats faster still but again it costs more so whats the point??
please vote on THIS deal and this deal alone, if you have a better device then post your own thread

hot from me
