Yeelight are WiFi bulbs. WiFi is not power efficient doesn't allow for a mesh network.

There's more to consider than just price, despite what the same handful of people will have you believe on every hue thread.

A lot of negativity in the comments section here but as someone whom is slowly rolling out home automation to assist my elderly grandfather and has been paying £15 a bulb doing one room at a time, I appreciate the heads up on this. Many thanks.

Thank you

Is it only the white bulbs?

This deal is for Philips hue smart bulbs not the standard bulbs.

works out at £8.33 each

Plus £50 for a bridge ?

@InTheKnow444 you can pick up a bridge off eBay for £25.
I sold two last week for that amount.

so £12:50 each then (if you can source a second hand bridge for £25)
Edited by: "InTheKnow444" 22nd Oct

Wait let me get this right. So it’s 6 bulbs for £50

How do these compare to Aeon or Osram Lightify bulbs?

wheelerdealer8722 m ago

Wait let me get this right. So it’s 6 bulbs for £50

No, it's 6 bulbs for a minimum of £75, unless you buy a new bridge, then it's 6 bulbs for £100

These are only white bulbs where as you could have bought a colour Yeelight bulb for as little as £7:50 each

But I already have a bridge.

Word of warning, these are WARM WHITE.

But not everyone has, so you have to factor in the true cost of owning these.

Yeelight RGB's are hard to beat for the price with no bridge required

Is this some sort of joke?

They are just as much a rip off as the Phillips bulbs. (and i have Hive heating which is fab)

These are the best "Colour" bulbs you can get, previous best price was £6:87 (plus 80p or less for an adaptor)

hotukdeals.com/dea…067

Maplin have been doing this for weeks.

About time xiaomi started officially selling their yeelight bulbs here, I reckon Philips' accountants would have a right fright.

Why do people always go on about yeelight in hue threads? For the sake of a couple quid id stick with philips for quick delivery and warranty on bulbs.

One or two yeelights in lamps is ok but if changing all house bulbs to smart bulbs id stick with bulbs that are sold here.

You need to factor in that some people would need to throw away all their hue bulbs and get rid of their hue hub if they were to purchase one of your bargain Yeelight bulbs.

Got them for £7.49 each, used the gift card route and got a fiver. Nice deal OP

Dimmer or tap is a physical switch.

The OP doesn't have to factor anything in. If someone lists a gas fireplace would you expect them to factor in the cost of a house or a chimney?

I'm a Yeelight user myself but this is clearly a good deal for those on the hue system already.

InTheKnow44416 h, 42 m ago

Or £8.33 each if you already have a bridge (I already have one)
Or if your about to take delivery of the new Amazon Echo plus (which has a built in bridge)
Edited by: "shakerstevens" 23rd Oct

Hi

Is this offer also on E27 bulbs?

the__cat6 h, 17 m ago

Dimmer or tap is a physical switch.

Or they can just use the normal light switch.
These always come on to Warm White 100% brightness, when you power them on.

You can use them as "normal" lights, it's just an expensive way to light your house if you don't utilise the automation

These seem to be like mobile phones, before we had them nobody had a problem now we have them and everybody wants them and everybody says the different makes are better.
We are living in a country that can't afford the basics in life but we can all afford these lights, a 65 inch smart TV, an iPhone/Samsung s8/S8+ and a nice new SUV.

You're close. We're living in a country of people who are stupid enough to get into debt to own a Smart TV, a new phone, a giant car, (and light bulbs apparently), and then simultaneously claim they can't feed / clothe their kids

Mental.

These aren't for everybody, they're for people who want to spend money on home automation. It's not a necessity by an means, it's quite a luxury.
Edited by: "johnthehuman" 23rd Oct

Would love if these were true 100w replacements like their non smart bulbs that output 1500lm...

True, but if you're buying these to use without automation you've got more money than sense

You're comparing over priced dumb LED bulbs against these Alexa enabled, app enabled, IFTTT enabled Hue bulbs?

Haha. Was just pointing out that they do still work like normal bulbs, so normal people (:P) can use the light switch, like visitors etc who don't have access to the apps.

I use IFTTT to turn lights on when I come home (light switch is opposite side of the kitchen to the back door), and bedroom lights wake me up slowly by warming up slowly over 20 minutes. Just a couple of useful examples of how they're not just a fancy expensive show-off fad.

With IFTTT there's loads of useful things they can do, I've barely scratched the surface.
