  • Our best-sounding Echo Dot yet: enjoy an improved audio experience compared to any previous Echo Dot with Alexa for clearer vocals, deeper bass and vibrant sound in any room.
  • Your favourite music and content: play music, audiobooks and podcasts from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer and more, or via Bluetooth throughout your home.
  • Alexa is happy to help: ask Alexa for the weather forecast, to set hands-free timers, get answers to your questions and even tell jokes. Need a few extra minutes in the morning? Just tap your Echo Dot to snooze your alarm.
  • Keep your home comfortable: control compatible smart home devices with your voice and routines triggered by indoor temperature sensors. Create routines to automatically start a smart fan if the inside temperature goes above your comfort zone.
  • Do more with device pairing: fill your home with music using compatible Echo devices in different rooms. Create a home cinema system with Fire TV.
  • Designed to protect your privacy: built with multiple layers of privacy protection and control, including a Microphone Off button that electronically disconnects the microphones.
  • Climate Pledge Friendly: we integrated sustainability in the design of this device with 99% of packaging coming from responsibly managed forests or recycled sources, 95% use of post-consumer recycled fabric and 55% post-consumer recycled plastics.

You can get Spotify free (with ads) or prime music if you have a prime subscription. I was happy enough with Spotify

Is this a big upgrade from the 4th Gen dot? Is sound quality any better or just the same?

Th speaker I understand is slightly bigger then gen4. Through the Amazon app you can adjust bass/mid/treble

Also the offer for 25% off and a £5 voucher for trading in a mk1 Alexa dot, brings it down to £21.24.

These echo dot vouchers never work for me otherwise I’d definitely be down to upgrade. (edited)

Doesn't work for me, which seems to be standard for Amazon codes.

Looks like they don't want me joining the Alexa ecosystem. Hey ho!

I got this last time so didn’t expect to work.

Worth the upgrade for me as the latest has the temp sensor in it as well which I can see via Hone Assistant.

do any of them have an audio jack?

and, if so, could this be used to be played to a sonos set up? just wondering if it's a cheap way to play vinyl through my house.

My echo dot (this version) keeps ignoring my requests especially when wanting to skip songs on a playlist . None of my other 3 Alexa speakers do this .

And no joy for me with the code . For my series 3 echo dot it would only give £5 off anyway so not great. I’m sure on Prime Day in July these will be tuppence (edited)

Bought one a few months back after resisting and not really seeing the point of them. Turned out to be one of the best things we've bought in a long time, sound quality is excellent for the price but the things you can do with it are brilliant, especially if you pick up some Alexa capable lights etc. Plus asking it to start a "fart timer" never gets old (I'm 52 but have the brain of a 5 year old, clearly)

Almost tempted to pick up another at this price, you can pair them for stereo playback.
