Guys remember to link a credit card to your 1-click address to avoid error messages when purchasing the free app of the day. Need to do that via Amazon account on the website.
Enjoy.

Looks like you can get a few free apps at the moment (or are some of them not ad free):
Angry Birds
Who Wants to be a Millionaire 2012 HD
Jetpack Joyride
Hello Kitty Cafe
Monster Pet Shop
Traffic Panic London
Temple Run (?)

Edit: Ah, the others are classified as "Top Apps"...so probably have ads if they are free!

Amazon launch their Appstore in Europe just in time for the launch of Kindle Fire 2, which means this time it'll be international and not just the US. Good news for Amazon customers interested in a cheap tablet.

does this mean that if i download an app from the amazon app store, then uninstall the amazon app store would all the apps i purchased/downloaded also be removed?

UPDATE: Looks like you have to keep the Amazon App Store installed to access the apps downloaded from Amazon...

Great stuff. Competition is a good thing. I just posted this too but (as usual) the search on this site didn't bring up this deal!

awesome stuff!

And for those of us that followed the instructions on 'Bitterwallet' and have already managed to sign up on the US Site. It looks like it keeps your US Details.

Anyone know how to remove your US login ?

I can not get this to download, it is wanting to use 'Evernote'?

Nice, downloaded it and tried WWTBAMHD...all good so far. Cheers.

Good deal but I think the website may have crashed already.

Me too! Works on my Galaxy Nexus!

I downloaded no problem - I would suggest when you are all logged in to go to the settings to make sure notifications are turned on; I am hoping they will send one daily as a prompt to download the app of the day rather than me having to remember.

One big problem: Cannot add a password or a pin for purchases so will automatically take from your account/gift certificate if you accidently click purchase. Also, no refund!

/\ Personally I am just using it for the freebies. Doubt I would ever buy an app from there rather than Google Play as you have outlined why.

AMAZING! Jetpack Joyride still has not been released on Google Play, but is available on the Amazon Appstore! What's more is that a paid application is released for free everyday. HAVE SOME HEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!

I just downloaded it, it replaced my bitterwallet Amazon app, luckily my apps were still
there and usable, but it still shows the us site, which has blocked me
from downloading the free apps anyway!

Only keeping the app as i have a few good free apps installed
which go, if i uninstall the amazon app.

Be good if someone could get around the problem, so we could download
the uk app, without overwriting the usa version?

Ooooh, PvZ is free today

Reviews don't seem promising though!

has anyone tried downloading it on a US Kindle? It doesnt seem to work 8-/

Google Play Store doesn't have this for the One X or the Galaxy S III (I think) because it isn't compatible. By reading the reviews it looks like that's the problem. If your phone is compatible then it's an absolute steal

I have just downloaded the App and PvZ and all seems ok on my One X

I downloaded it and installed it but it's showing prices in US$ and when I try to get anything it says "make sure the market is available in your country" I downloaded the app from the Amazon uk website.
The kindle app works fine on my Android device, no problems buying.

Shame, PvZ taken down before midnight. They are probably working on CET rather than GMT

I can help you with your problem. The reason is your country is set to withheld or United States. To change it, follow the instructions below:

1) Go to amazon.co.uk.
2) Click 'My/Your Account' in top right.
3) On the right hand side there is information about Kindles. Look for 'Manage My Kindle' and click on it.
4) Sign in to your Amazon account.
5) Then on the left you will see two sections and you are looking for 'Your Kindle Account' and click on the bit at the bottom named 'Country Settings'
6) Change to the United Kingdom.
7) Enjoy the Amazon App store on your phone.

It doesn't matter if you have never had a Kindle, this will fix the problem.

Can't believe I missed out on free plants vs zombies. Giving this Gravilux thing a go though thanks

Shame this overwrites my US copy of the AppStore. Now all my free apps that i got via the US store aren't useable, they keep stating that i am not the correct user for these apps.

So removed the Appstore & re-installed with my US settings. Hopefully someone out there can figure out how to have both the UK & US stores active at the same time either on the same app, or still retain the US Appstore even though you also have the UK Appstore.

Shame i can't play PvZ now

Thank you so much! I wish I had known this 2 days ago, before I pulled all my hair out

are the apps not the same as GOOGLE PLAY?

thanks for that, saved me some time. I'll add the uk version to the tablet but keep the usa version for the phone

Does anyone know of a website which provides a RSS feed like thing which informs of todays free apps? I've seen plenty for the US Store but none for the EU store. The two stores seem to differ sometimes in what free apps they are offering.

I hope there is an RSS feed - I'm on holiday soon so will miss out unless I get reminded!

Today's Amazon free app of the day is Quell Reflect

OMG excellent thanks

OK, needs the app store installed, and to be logged in, when you open a special freebie app.

Just another reason to be grumpy about Amazon, I guess. They sometimes seem rather uncivilized
