Amazon Basics Mechanical RGB LED backlit keyboard £23.14 at Amazon

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Amazon are selling as part of their basics range a backlit customisable RGB mechanical keyboard at a ludicrous price point as far as I'm concerned when comparing to other similar products on the market. As a lot of people will be working from home a mechanical keyboard is a nice to have and for less than 24 quid I think it's a bargain. I have a Corsair K70 RGB myself and having just used the Amazon basics one, I can honestly say you get a lot of bang for your buck. I love my K70 but the Amazon keyboard does bring into stark contrast how overpriced the Corsair is.

I wish someone would make a budget mechanical keyboard in beige. I want to relive my youth.

the keyboard will work fine on mac. it is just the configuration software for the RGB that is not compatible

Nice!
Man, I wish it was TKL!

Just use a hacksaw. Easy.
Looks quite good!
Looks half decent for that money.

I wonder if it has any onboard config memory? So I could set it up on a PC then move it to the mac?
Topcasback on Amazon Basics has gone but there is still 2% on computer components

Had this amonth now and kinda wish I'd sent it back. It's **extrememly** loud, not just mechanical 'clicks', it really 'rings' with every keypress and the software is garbage.
mivu, I wouldnt say the corsair boards are overpriced. Ive got a couple of them and they are beautiful devices. The whole feel and assembly of them is glorious.

Thanks for the deal tho, i couldnt not buy at that price. With this working and schooling from home im gonna stock pile full width mechanical keyboards.

Well I paid £130 for mine a couple of years ago and I wouldn't say it's £100 better than the Amazon tbh. Do I prefer the Corsair though? Absolutely.

Agreed, I've had my original K70 for 7 years and it hasn't skipped a beat.
Does anyone know if the Outemu switches are hot-swappable? Fancy customising a budget board for in the office but prefer brown switches
I bought this at a little higher of a price. For 23 quid it's outstanding value.
What’s it like for non gaming? Ie normal day to day stuff ?

Very Good value Guys.

I bought my original mechanical at £40 notes a while ago which i thought was a good deal, and only managed to get that price because it was US Layout (So annoying).

Then i switched to a TKL Mechanical, I didnt think i would like it. but the form factor is actually great since i don't game much.

regarding the Questions above.

For mac, make sure you set your settings layout to British - PC. and it will work just fine.

Linux and windows it will work out of the box.

I think the compatability thing people are refering to is the amazon software, which is simply going to be to set colours/hotkeys I expect. Not really needed for day to day Keyboard use.

So you will be fine with it!

Blue's are lovely for typing, they are loud tho.
Would this work with Xbox? Obviously they now support keyboards.

I don't see why not as at the end of the day it's just a USB keyboard.
seems half decent for the price
Does anyone know if this has the riser feet at the back I am working from home but this keyboard is a little uncomfortable due to being flat.

I highly doubt it. Hotswappable PCBs would hike the price considerably.

Happy to be proven wrong though!

It does but the tilt they provide isn't that pronounced in all honesty.

Appreciate the response, be well.
What are the benefits of a mechanical keyboard over the traditional type ?
Down to £22.41
Is this made by Corsair? It looks quite similar. I have k70 and its really great keyboard.

It's now up to £24.41. Not sure what's going on here.
Ok it looks like it's back up to £59.99 now... Was this a mis-price all along?

No, think it was on offer, as more people were buying the price was going up, but I guess they sold through their cheap units and back to full price now.

Ah perhaps. The inner workings of the Amazon pricing algorithms are a mystery 😄. Hopefully some of you managed to get in there when the going was good.
Got it today (despite not even having Amazon Prime??) and I have to say it's a very nice unit.

I'd bought it for my 5 year old son and it has very nice lights and a rather nice (and reassuringly boomingly loud!) action. He's going to be over the moon with it.

Thanks OP.
I got one, it was great, nice to type and the Backlit was great but the noise, so much noise, I wish I could have kept it but I couldn't. I hope they make a v2 that is quieter. The actual switches weren't too bad but the keys would strke them and make a much louder noise.
