Can't decide, ordered then chnaged mind, tempted to order again . Been reading up quickly on running costs and it seems electric is the way forward, not to mention no running out of gas and the fact that they can be banged in storage instead of worrying about then blowing over. Hate decisions.

Just looked at gas prices - can it really be £90 for an 11kg gas cylinder?

Yes, but Flogas is £85 for 11kg if you don't already have a cylinder (like me).

Appreciate that the costs go down thereafter but thought that it was worth mentioning.

I don't think electric can match the heat output compared to these though...

No they can't, you would need a few of them but would still be cheaper to run. The electric ones heat the people using radiation and the the gas heats the air, so electric don't need to be as powerful

Don’t order a full sized gas bottle as they don’t fit. Read the reviews. I ignored them and found them to be correct though some say they fit ok. I can jam mine in but it’s not ideal.

I got a 2kw electric one last year to test it out and was completely useless. Neeeed to be about within 30cm of it to feel the heat...

I have a 15 kg butane gas bottle. Your eating this won't fit?

How should the bottles be stored during winter.... Are freezing temps an issue if stored outdoors?

Mines the 13kg patio Calor gas bottle and it doesn’t fit. Link below is my bottle.
Like I say I can wedge it in and lower the cover , you can’t tell once the cover is down but it’s not ideal. Just my personal experience. Nothing wrong with the heater at all just go for a slightly smaller bottle.

I’ve changed the bolts and rotated the assembly of the bolts in the bottle housing to gain extra height to accommodate which made it a little better but still it’s a squeeze.

You see this is what is making it hard to decide , I’m swaying more to electric though as heat is supposed to be instant, it’s gas you have to wait for it to get going. We will only use it when eating out side with the kids so will be on for a bit then off.

I got it for this purpose also. This is the heater I got:
    amazon.co.uk/dp/…c=1

I mounted it onto a pole so it could be reasonably close but the kids and Mrs were unimpressed and went back indoors lol. I paid £75 for it last year during the lockdown hype... Strangely amazon told me to keep it when arranging a return and gave me a refund lol.
