I guess it's up to everyone to decide how they like their coffee (and an 8 isn't that horrible to spend for a trial). But I'd say this - I've just finished the 1st kg of the amazon brand beans and I'm going to be jumping back to Lavazza. Yes, it means that each cup is +50% more expensive, but I can safely say that at this price point I'm happy to pay a little more to get a little more pleasure out of the cup. Again, the beans are OK in a pinch and if interested you should try, but I won't be buying them again.

Hi Uk
Ordered these yesterday for work. Interested to see how good they are

Yes I agree.
I am a fan of Lavazza as well. I bought a Kg from Note d’Espresso and ended up mixing it half-half with Lavazza Qualita Oro. I was surprised (and pleased) with how it changed the taste and it was a bit of saving Every little helps

Lovely local Leeds microroaster doing £15 minimum spend for free delivery atm - bit pricier but even the core range blows the big boys’ burnt beans out of the water

Ooo no, I really can't stand Lavazza. I've got me a taste of Taylor's of Harrogate.

I tried Lavazza and it was awful.

As you say it's a personal preference, ToH is amazing stuff
Anyone recommend any good espresso fine ground coffee? Tried Lavazza and Illys

Was actually about to order some Happy Belly but the reviews are definitely 50/50. Been drinking Lavazza for a while now, looking to try something different

Closed.
HasBean are my absolute favourite online coffee co, fantastic beans and good ethos, but not the cheapest hasbean.co.uk/

Happy Donkey are pretty good, and very reasonable, esp if you buy in bulk (I used to work with several other coffee addicts and we'd get a 6kg order in (packed as 24 separate vacuum packed bags). The Italian blend is their cheapest and pretty good for £52 / 6Kg (works out at £2.16 per bag this way) happydonkey.co.uk/pro…os/

Edit: both still roasting and shipping at time of writing this comment

Meanwhile, if you can get to a Sainsbury's, their FairTrade Espresso Beans are excellent - much nicer than some over-rated branded stuff (Lavazza, Illy, Starbucks etc) at twice the price, esp for espresso

Coffee Compass are excellent roasters. Been ordering from them for years and I’ve tried many others. Their espresso selection is brilliant with Hill and Valley my personal fave.
Another for for hasbean. Great quality selection roasted to order and quick delivery.

Shame , I didn’t see the £5.50 delivery . But deffo worth looking at when things get back to normality (hopefully soon) .

Which 2/3 types would you recommend?

I have tried the Ethiopian djimmah , light roast so you can taste the subtlety of the coffee .. but it’s fairly subjective of course . Not the burnt black espresso type stuff .
Contact them and I am sure they will advise on their range . Just a shame the postage has ramped up.
They sell on eBay but adjust the prices to accommodate the “free” postage.
But the caveat is, paying around a tenner for a kg of coffee you are not going to get the best beans in the world .

Hill and Valley
Brighton Lanes
Mocha Full Roast
Jampit Hit

All good, full bodied blends IMO.
I had a bag of 200deg LA NINA DE GUATEMALA 200degs.com/ from John Lewis once - was pretty nice. (Got a Sage Barista Express machine)

although at £8 per 250g bag (free delivery mind) its far from cheap!
Certainly better than the cheap ALDI Italian beans I usually get, but hard to say if worth more than twice the price... I find the Aldi beans perfectly ok

I might order some more (probably try the BRAZILIAN LOVE AFFAIR ) though and keep trying.
Looking for other suggestions though, I see some good ones already posted!
These are about the same quality as the Solimo beans, maybe even a bit worse, for nearly twice the price.

I’ve had expensive coffee subscriptions in the past and then went back to the 1kg Lavazza pack from Costco. Trouble is it’s just ‘ok’ imho. The snobs won’t like this but Aldi have good whole bean coffee packs. Different strengths and are around £2 ish per 250g if I recall rightly. All decent coffee. Work great in my b2c machine eaither fine ground or course. Always good to have a cheaper option with a decent taste. Good luck.

Apparently it used to sell for £6.95 for 2Kg but still a lot of beans for that price.
Let me know if any good when you tested please. Cheers
They are not the best but for the price they are ok. Bought 2 bags a month ago. Ok for work when everyone uses the coffee machine. But I buy decent beans for home
