This post is not for everyone, but will help a lot of people who, maintain their own vehicles of any age, or mechanics looking for parts for customers. I've compared a lot of prices and Amazon appears to list very cheap full clutch kits.

Looking for some parts for a friends car and came across some really cheap parts, namely clutch kits and bearings. I had filtered my search to include only listing on Prime, so free delivery, sorted the list by lowest price first.

I have listed some examples below, however Amazon only stock 1 of each item. If you know the exact part number, you will be able to find the exact one for your car. Biggest discounts appear to be on Blue Print and Jap Part branded discs, however Valeo, LUK, Sachs and Quinton Hazell.

I hope these examples help, I have tried to give a cross section of vehicles and ages available, but far too many on Amazon to possibly list them all. If you find any good examples please link them in the post.

Great, I wasn't expecting that lol
These are superb prices and anyone needing a new clutch for one of the models in the deal should be well pleased.
My runaround 2nd car is a Fiesta and I'm tempted to buy a clutch even though it doesn't need one yet.

How do you find the part number for your car? Car manufacturers usually don't tell that info? Or I could be wrong.

You should be able to use your Number Plate to determine the correct part. Just put your reg number into EuroCarParts, for example, will give you the clutch kit on there. Just copy the part number from there, and put it into Amazon.

The part number will be different for aftermarket parts and genuine dealership parts, most websites supplying parts will have a search facility where you enter your registration or vin number and they'll let you know the corresponding number.
The kids can have the old one and pretend it's a flying saucer/millenium falcon

Hard to replace?

Not really, just pop the gearbox out.

Yeah, but I've got access to a pit which really helps, might take me a few hours, I'm not a mechanic, but do all my own work. It will involve gear box removal etc, so you do need to know what you're doing. I've done a few in the past so fairly confident, it's just time and effort really.

Not sure how much a mechanic would charge, but they could probably do it in half the time I could do it in lol

You'd want to do the thrust/release bearing while you were doing the clutch. Some kits include it, others come separate.

Cars are like big Meccano kits, none of it is particularly difficult, just dirty and fiddly.

I just did one on my sons 2005 focus - took loads of time as the gearbox would not clear the side, thought I was going to have to remove the whole engine (and nearly did as I removed every thing to shift it to one side), then really hard to get the gearbox back on, personal hate clutch jobs!

You're supposed to remove the driveshaft from the hub end, not the gearbox, pop it back in and crop dust the mess with cat litter.

You clearly haven't followed the 3 step procedure in the Haynes manual, step 1 is to disconnect the battery. I'm not sure I can help if you're willfully ignoring key parts of the procedure.

Personally, never had an issue. They have a decent returns policy anyway. Only had 1 issue of incorrect parts and that was with ECP, still good considering how many parts I've ordered for a variety of cars.
