Amazon Echo is a hands-free, voice-controlled device with a built-in speaker. Echo connects to the Alexa Voice Service to play music, provide information, news, sports scores, weather, and more. All you have to do is ask.

Alexa can play music and audiobooks, read the news, set alarms, control smart home devices, provide information like weather, traffic, sports, and more using just your voice. Amazon echo uses the alexa voice service to understand voice requests and responds with natural language. Amazon echo can hear you from across the room with far-field voice recognition, even while music is playing. With the free alexa app on fire os, android, iOS and desktop browsers, you can easily set up and manage your Amazon echo.

Is there a comparison chart anywhere showing the differences between this and the later generations? Otherwise, can anyone please mention the major differences?

Will Amazon stop updating this sooner than the later generations?

Thanks.

This one doesn’t have the Philips Hue hub built in but apart from that, it’s definitely one of the better models for sound quality and if you don’t have one I think it’s a no brainier at this price

Interesting I have the first gen (or one that looks like this haha) - was reading that the sound quality on the echo 3 was supposed to be a big improvement on previous echos - have I got my models mixed up?

Which are the ones to avoid or go for soundwise in the Amazon collection? I have an echo dot 3rd Gen which my parents got a as Vodafone freebie gift.

I'm interested to find out how the new big Amazon Atmos smart speaker gets reviewed and what the price is on Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
Have both generations and I think Echo 1 sounds better. Interesting, this was posted before for less money and do not know why was voted cold.

Probably because it’s rubbish at that price and been superseded twice with newer models with better sound quality

No generations of this echo have the hub built in. The hub is only in the echo plus and show.

The Echo Plus 1st generation is the same shape as this and that’s the one I was referring to as it looks the same

From what I understand, this Echo has better SQ than the 2nd Gen, but the 2nd Gen is a lot more aesthetically pleasing. As the 3rd Gen has just come out I can't really say what that sounds like.

But yeah, this is a little pricey considering last Black Friday 2nd Gens were £55 brand new.

Well, the deals I'm talking about were at about £40 and cold, while this one is hot and is over £50.
With regards to how rubbish this is, I've got all, Show, Echo 2 and Dot3, Echo1 is is still the best of all.
If you look at the comments on this deal, you will notice quite a few people suggesting they have different models and this one seems to be the best of all.

I bought the latest Amazon Echo for £48 a few months back so why spend more on an older version?

Latest does not mean better. I certainly prefer G1 vs G2.
